~New breed of Light dragons~
Expectation: sublime, graceful, beautiful creatures~
Reality: emm... worms...?
But that's not even the point.
The ancient dragons were positioned as a "way to diversify the species."
But what do we have?
Insects, insects and suddenly... oh yes, insects!

Oh. So we're just gonna be okay with the (potentially) lazy route.
Okay.
I'll just be over here, where characters have a bit more depth than cheap carpet pile...

Honestly I think a big problem I have with them is not how weird they are, but how boring they are once you actually look beneath the surface. Their lore is basically just “they live in cities made of silk and like books and are nice”. Compare that to some earlier ancients, like Gaolers and Banescales, it’s just not interesting at all. And it’s kind of sad, because they’ve released this very interesting looking breed with really basic lore.
I haven't been engaged in the lore for years for (partially) this reason. Everlux especially seems like they were just phoning it in, though.

I wasn't that surprised with the insect/grub look of the Everlux due to the teaser making it pretty clear with the bookworm image. So seeing the actual breed wasn't that much of a disappointment.
That said, I'm not a fan of insects in general so I don't see myself putting this breed high up in my favorites. Who knows, maybe they'll grow on me.
However, my one gripe with the Everlux would be their lore. It feels repetitive as there are now two dragons breeds with very similar themes of books and knowledge: Aethers and Everlux. I understand that there will be some overlap as both Light and Arcane do involve discovery and seeking knowledge, but this feels too similar, you know?

Meow meow choco chow.
Think about it.
Think about it.
I wonder if they had lightbulb antenae (similair to that one gene I forgot name of), or something kinda like glowing... would make them more light themed in design. but I think that would be hard to pull off since the way genes behave and glow effects sometimes come off as wonky (and how would it affect UMAs and template overall), but I am sure it would be so cool and bring in light theme in design more. like, they need lil glow orb to see books and read? pearlcatchers already have item they carry around, but maybe everlux having yet another orb would be too much similarities (now I am having ideas. maybe I pick up pen and draw my take on them)
overall, still not fan and probably won't be as I do not enjoy heavy bug/grub theme, as much I enjoy wings and horns (two facts many do not enjoy of them, funnily). maybe some UMAs will change my mind but I do not mind not enjoying this breed. ancients overall aren't my thing that much unless very specific theme to fill in my lair or neat skin to put on

Everluxes are sublime, graceful and beautiful in their own way. Look again.
Besides, Veilspun and Aethers aren't nearly as insect-like as Everluxes blatantly are. Aethers are like... what, barely moth-adjacent? You can't even see their multiple legs well. Only insect theme Veilspun have going on are their wings and the beetle gene.
Not saying you have to like Everluxes or insects but yeah.
---
Anyways I am reminded that we live in a society where Bugs are Disgusting and deserve to be Destroyed. As a bugliker it's a little disappointing to see the common reaction to Everluxes is one of disgust because it's like... man bugs are wonderful actually, if you bother to look at them as a living creature living its own little life, rather than something that exists as a personal affront to you. But I also don't want to be dismissive of people's phobias, either.
It's also kind of disappointing to see how much hatred is being levied at Everluxes when Veilspun and Aethers never got the same reception. Even Dusthides, a breed considered meh by most, never got this bad.
Again, not saying you have to like them or you have to like bugs and whatever. But I do think some of you need to think before you say stuff.

As an insect lover, I think they’re adorable! Like top 5 breeds for me, definitely looking forward to filling my lair with them. Alot of the criticisms I see in this thread are valid, like their odd anatomy and such, but idk I think the beauty of a mythological creature like a dragon is that it can be anything!
Plus, Silkworms have been an important part of human civilization for millennia, using such a well regarded and storied creature as inspiration for the Light ancient makes plenty of sense to me. They’re record keepers! Lovely ones at that.
Also all the fatphobia in this thread genuinely makes me sad, it’s one thing to dislike something that looks like a grub, and another entirely to say you hate it because it’s “Fat and Ugly”. Shameful, honestly, be kinder. While your words are about a fictional dragon, they hurt real people.

>Everluxes are subline, graceful and beautiful in their own way. Look again.>
No they are not. And I cannot stand looking at them, especially the kids. Ugh. One might understand such creatures made by the Plaguebringer, but certainly not by the Lightweaver. Maybe I will change to another flight as Lightweaver seems to have gone mad. Or quit the game entirely, as it seems they will not give us new DRAGON breeds.

I'm sorry that these personally don't appeal to you but 1. they are dragons. Dragons are fantasy creatures and can look like anything as a result.
2. They are beautiful. They are graceful. They are sublime. Just not to you, but that doesn't mean they are not.
This is kind of reading as a temper tantrum. NO ONE was like this about Fathoms or Dusthides. I don't know why you all think it's okay to act like this about Everluxes.

I was expecting something graceful. Got the opposite.
