I'd like to preface this post by stating that I am no economist. I simply like staring at dragons. I am by no means trained in understanding prices or statistics. If I look at a number it growls at me. That being said, I have made and altered many a dragon project by the whims of the Auction House and Marketplace and have picked up a thing or two by force via experience.

And now, I will explain how my findings will be formatted. Firstly I will cover Eye Vials and Breedchange Scrolls, as those affect every dragon interchangeably. After that I will go over modern genes, primary first, then secondary, followed by tertiary. Afterwards I will go over each ancient dragon one-by-one in alphabetical order starting with Aberrations and ending with Veilspuns while still following the primary-secondary-tertiary pattern. Finally I will procure the cheapest dragon egg and subsequently attempt to create the perfect, cheapest dragon possible. It may come out looking ugly. It may not. I may wind up raffling it away for free. If it winds up being an ancient breed I will most definitely raffle it away for free.

[center][b][i]EYE VIALS[/i][/b][/center] To begin my study I have gone into the Game Database and compiled a list of every Eye Vial in the game, which I then proceeded to use to deduce which is the cheapest to procure. The cheapest Eye Vial item in the game is, by technicality, the [b]Vial of Hypnotic Sight.[/b][item= Vial of Hypnotic Sight] Not only are they the cheapest vials in the Realm-Wide Auction House, but they are a drop in the Coliseum, and extraordinarily common at that. Because of that, their price is, on a technicality, free, however for the sake of numbers, the lowest price they go for is [b]2 Gems, or around 2000 Treasure.[/b]

[center][b][i]BREEDCHANGE SCROLLS[/i][/b][/center] Funnily enough, there is a tie between the two cheapest Breedchange Scrolls. Both are also technically obtained for free, but one has a time limit while the other does not. I am, of course, talking about [b]Undertides and Nocturnes.[/b] [item= Breed Change: Undertide][item= Breed Change: Nocturne] Undertides can be obtained for free via Arlo's Ancient Artifacts, in a plot in the Deepsea Dive. Nocturnes can also be obtained for free, though only during Night of the Nocturne, an event that lasts for the majority of December. Both scrolls go for the same price on the Auction House however, standing at [b]30 Gems, or 30K Treasure.[/b]

[center][b][i]MODERN GENES[/i][/b][/center] This one was indeed a toughie, as there is currently no way to exclude certain results from your Auction House searches. We know you've seen the Suggestion forums, staff, a little acknowledgement would be nice. Let's not get off track though and get to the genes. [emoji=primary gene size=1][b]PRIMARY[/b] Unsurprisingly another Night of the Nocturne freebie, [b]Fern[/b][item= Primary Gene: Fern] is actually cheaper to buy with Treasure than Gems! Lowest Realm-Wide Auction House prices are currently standing at [b]17 Gems and 15K Treasure.[/b] [emoji=secondary gene size=1][b]SECONDARY[/b] Another technically-free Coliseum drop, the cheapest Secondary gene for modern dragons is [b]Morph.[/b][item= Secondary Gene: Morph] Cheaper to buy with Gems, current floor is sitting pretty at [b]8 Gems and 13K Treasure.[/b] [emoji=tertiary gene size=1][b]TERTIARY[/b] One last Night of the Nocturne gene, the cheapest modern tertiary is [b]Smirch![/b] [item= Tertiary gene: Smirch] Gems are the way to go with this one as well, because prices are currently at [b]9 Gems, or around 16K Treasure.[/b]

[center][emoji=aberration size=1][b][i]ABERRATIONS[/i][/b][/center] Now we're in the easy part. Ancient genes are simple to search for with the help of round brackets and a little bit of reading. [emoji=primary gene size=1][b]PRIMARY[/b] The cheapest primary gene is a Coliseum drop, [b]Diamond.[/b][item=Primary Gene: Diamond (Aberration)] There's a bit of dissonance between the Gem and Treasure prices at the moment, with [b]20 Gems and 30K Treasure[/b] being the floor. [emoji=secondary gene size=1][b]SECONDARY[/b] Surprising no one, the secondary is Diamond's sister gene [b]Spade.[/b][item=Secondary Gene: Spade (Aberration)] A bit of a misnomer as a spade in a deck of cards is that little symbol that looks like an upside-down heart with a triangle attached to the butt. Whether or not the name is accurate, the prices are [b]16 Gems or 30K Treasure.[/b] Yeesh, who'd they tick off? [emoji=tertiary gene size=1][b]TERTIARY[/b] The first thing that pops up when you type "(Ab" Into the Realm-Wide Auction House search bar under Specialty is [b]Polkadot,[/b][item=Tertiary Gene: Polkadot (Aberration)] which was a Coliseum drop until the recent release of Glass & Gloss' Genuine Genes. Prices are incredibly low at [b]10 Gems and around 13K Treasure.[/b]

[center][emoji=aether size=1][b][i](raise) AETHERS[/i][/b][/center] I don't actually know anything about Fire Emblem, I just played a lot of Super Smash Bros. Brawl as a kid. Subspace Emissary deserved a sequel. [emoji=primary gene size=1][b]PRIMARY[/b] You know what I got to do? I got to take the "b" out of "(Ab" and replace it with an "e". And that told me that the cheapest Aether primary is [b]Candy![/b][item=Primary Gene: Candy (Aether)] There's a bit of a price jump between currencies at [b]10 Gems, or around 5000 Treasure.[/b] [emoji=secondary gene size=1][b]SECONDARY[/b] Candy's sister gene [b]Icing[/b][item=Secondary Gene: Icing (Aether)] is the cheapest secondary, which makes sense as they are both available for free through Arlo's Ancient Artifacts by digging in the Ancient Aerie. The prices are even this time with [b]4 Gems and 4000 Treasure[/b] being the floor. [emoji=tertiary gene size=1][b]TERTIARY[/b] A Treasure price is currently unavailable for the cheapest Aether tertiary, [b]Smirch![/b][item=Tertiary Gene: Smirch (Aether)] Current Gem-to-Treasure ratio is about 1:1000 however, so we can assume that the [b]30 Gem[/b] price tag could also translate to [b]30K Treasure.[/b]

[center][emoji=banescale size=1][b][i]BANESCALES[/i][/b][/center] My first Ancients. Also what convinced me that I don't like having Ancients. Yes yes I'm aware that I disgrace the Ice flight, but if the Icewarden had a problem with it he would have disappeared me by now. That's right pops, I know about the government conspiracies. [emoji=primary gene size=1][b]PRIMARY[/b] As cheap as cheap gets, [b]Candycane[/b][item=Primary Gene: Candycane (Banescale)] goes for a whopping [b]1 Gem.[/b] It's Treasure price barely even scrapes the underside of [b]2000 Treasure.[/b] [emoji=secondary gene size=1][b]SECONDARY[/b] And of course [b]Sugarplum[/b][item=Secondary Gene: Sugarplum (Banescale)] goes for the exact. Same. Amount. [b]1 Gem, 2000 Treasure.[/b] Coliseum genes are insane. [emoji=tertiary gene size=1][b]TERTIARY[/b] I'm convinced that the Coliseum monsters just don't like Banescales, because [b]Skeletal[/b][item=Tertiary Gene: Skeletal (Banescale)] barely gets a raise in price at [b]2 Gems and around 2000 Treasure.[/b] Seriously.

[center][emoji=gaoler size=1][b][i]It's pronounced GAOLERS[/i][/b][/center] Otherwise known as Tundras 2; Electric Boogaloo. Added bonus of no pants allowed. [emoji=primary gene size=1][b]PRIMARY[/b] The most expensive of the three but not by much, [b]Phantom[/b][item=Primary Gene: Phantom (Gaoler)] is a Coliseum gene that sits at [b]5 Gems and around 5000 Treasure.[/b] [emoji=secondary gene size=1][b]SECONDARY[/b] You know it, you love it, it's Phantom's sister gene [b]Spirit![/b][item=Secondary Gene: Spirit (Gaoler)] It has a surprisingly uneven price conversion though, with the split being [b]2 Gems and around 8000 Treasure, rounded upward.[/b] [emoji=tertiary gene size=1][b]TERTIARY[/b] If you guessed that the tertiary would be another free gene from the Coliseum, you guessed right because it's [b]Weathered.[/b] [item=Tertiary Gene: Weathered (Gaoler)] It sits nice and low at [b]2 Gems and 3000 Treasure.[/b]

[center][emoji=sandsurge size=1][b][i]SANDSURGES[/i][/b][/center] The new dragon in town that has everyone's wallets strung up and hung to dry, the price for the dragon itself might be up there but the genes don't break the bank nearly as hard! Prices can be expected to drop soon though, once more saturate the market. [emoji=primary gene size=1][b]PRIMARY[/b] The classic Coliseum gene makes her triumphant return, [b]Python[/b][item=Primary Gene: Python (Sandsurge)] is standing at a great-for-her-age [b]20 Gems and 45K Treasure.[/b] [emoji=secondary gene size=1][b]SECONDARY[/b] Little sister [b]Morph[/b][item=Secondary Gene: Morph (Sandsurge)] Is doing just as good, with lowest prices at [b]14 Gems and 15K Treasure.[/b] [emoji=tertiary gene size=1][b]TERTIARY[/b] Of course it's [b]Smirch[/b][item=Tertiary Gene: Smirch (Sandsurge)] again, with thanks to Glass & Gloss for making it available before Night of the Nocturne even rolls around for the Sandsurge's first year. That makes it sound dubious, but the low low cost of [b]10 Gems or 18K Treasure[/b] outweighs it. Probably.

I've got a few of the cheapest scrolls sitting in my hoard that I would 100% donate to this cause! I'm also excited to see that ugly baby when it comes to life.
