Fun facts about Brazilian rainbow boas: [LIST] [*] they are non-venomous snakes, they are constrictors [*] do not grow that big tbh or at least not as big as you'd expect given the reputation of some constrictors (about 4-6ft) [*] they're not the best pets, they have high maintenance needs with babies needing 90%+ humidity and adults needing 70%+ BUT THEY ARE VERY PRETTY 100% great snakes to use as a reference species for something magical or fantastical in nature [*] I love them [/LIST] tho speaking of theming... makes me wonder if the theme is going to be flower+an animal attached to them which is a shame cuz I would LOVE to see snakes for all the fest familiars, there are so many pretty ones and goofy ones out there

Undel confirmed it will be flower + snake for this years theme, we're getting an all snake run.

But these are such cool pics, I did wonder if the iridescence was true to real life and it's so sick that it is. I know a lot of darker scaled snakes can have this sorta rainbow shimmer effect, but wow the way it plays with the colors here is gorgeous..... I hope the other snakes are all such cool breeds.

I saw that too and I was also very happy! I'm hoping to get a boa constructor for one of the holidays because I think they have very cute faces. I hope you don't mind me sharing a couple other snake pics because I have a few that I was thinking of when I saw the theme was snakes. For fire I think Baird's ratsnake would be a great fit because of how its scales look like embers (also it is one of my very favorites and I love it): [img]https://b1730346.smushcdn.com/1730346/wp-content/uploads/Bairds-Rat-Snake-1.jpg[/img] The red-spotted gartersnake could be a really nice fit for lightning, although I could also see them going with a snake that is more visibly spiky. Despite the name, they do come in blue (I saw a blue one a couple of weeks ago actually). @Sunfeathers oooh those are lovely! that rat snak is indeed a perfect fit for fire 0,0 honestly as long as we like a nice viper in there somewhere too, I'll be happy! Vipers have such cool scaley faces I also hope we get some of the goofy snakes like for real please let wind get a blunt head snake just like look at these guys! Light's new snake familiar is so gorgeous and I'm incredibly happy we'll get to see more of them!
