Ominous Species Christmas Countdown!
Hello! Welcome to the first annual Ominous Species Christmas Countdown. This is a successor to the Ominous Snapper Christmas Countdown I did last year. Last year was kind of a mess, as I was NOT expecting to do the countdown at all. I had a dream about it, I made it, and it was a learning experience. This year I'm more prepared and got to work on it ahead of time (Most of this post was probably written in early November!) so everything should go smoothly. A popular suggestion last year was to do this with a new species.... so I am! Since I'm selfish and not at all obsessed with them, this year's species is Skydancers!
But what is the Ominous Species Christmas Countdown? It's simply a countdown to Christmas, but more ominous! Seriously, it's kinda in the title. But for real, what is it? Well, it's a silly little thing I threw together after having an odd dream last year that resulted in the Ominous Snapper Christmas Countdown, which is linked above. Each day I will photoshop an ominous dragon with a sign counting down to Christmas. Am I good with photoshop? Sorta, yeah. Will these images reflect that? Probably not. Does that add to the comedic value? I hope so!
Here are a few things to note, as well as the rules:
- If you'd like to be pinged for the daily update, let me know! I am subbed to the thread, so you don't need to ping me. The same goes if you'd like to be removed from the pinglist: simply say so!
- You can post your ominous Skydancer or ominous Skydancer scry each day for a chance to win a small prize once the countdown ends. One Skydancer/Skydancer scry per day. If two are submitted, I will use the first one You may submit the same one multiple times unless you have previously won with that Skydancer.. I will randomly select a Skydancer each day to be featured in the next day's image. If you are selected, you may continue to post another Skydancer or Skydancer scry, you will simply have a reduced chance at winning a second time.
- Please do not submit dragons with primal plague eyes. While it does not bother me, I am aware that some people do not like to see them, and I would like to keep this enjoyable for all. Any submissions using primal plague eyes will not be accepted.
- Any Skydancers or scrys submitted for that day should be posted before 18:00 server time. That is 9:00 PM Eastern time, 6:00 PM Western. If it is submitted after 18:00 server time it will be counted for the next day, as I will have already selected the winner for that day and begun to make the image. I will try to post the day's image around 19:00 server time. (Except for the first day, since the image is already made. Any submitted on the first day will be counted for the second.)
- Submit your Skydancer or Skydancer scry right here in this forum post! However, if you do not wish to post it publically for any reason, you can send it to me via messages.
- I'm usually too lazy to change the image size but I do try to only use high-resolution images. If an image is too hard to see, you can probably zoom in!
- Once the countdown has concluded, I will be opening a google form to give feedback on the event and vote for next year's breed! There will also be an option to add yourself to the pinglist for next year's countdown. This will, unfortunately, require you to sign into a google account. Tis'the season the only way I can sort of limit responses to 1 per person.
(Link to the 2019 forum was here, but was removed for a few reasons.)
- I apologize if anything does not go smoothly. I have tried my best to prepare for this year, but things don't always go as planned! I also want to apologize if this post looks a little...bland. I'm not the best with decorating forum posts or bios. I ALSO also want to apologize if I did anything wrong, this post was actually submitted at 4 in the morning for me, so I'm just gonna trust I prepared everything ahead of time correctly.
With all that out of the way, let the countdown begin! Who knows what will happen this time?
