I'll have to agree! I actually love how some XYZ dragons just "work" and look so unique.
I have a few myself that I'm proud of such as :

I think XXX,Xyy and such may ensure the colors blend better, but I definitely wouldn't say they always look "better" than particularly nice colored Xyz dergs!
Of course, I am on the wagon of loving when a g1 gets a double! Which has yet to happen to me personally, but eh. lol
-sorry for the ping xD

I tend to dislike XXX, actually :D They're just... boring. I like XXY, though, with contrasting Y, or XYZ where X and Y are close, lots of my dragons have such pattern. Not too fond of XYY and XYX, though; I have several but not that many.
And while I understand the rarity of G1 XXX's, I don't like them either. Again, too boring unless you use genes like poitox and such, and even then I tend to dislike the tert.

I agree, I'd much rather have an XYZ that goes together nicely, or in an unexpected way. I think they are much more visually interesting, but at the same time being cohesive. Like here are some of my XYZ ~

The beauty is in the eyes of the watcher, and that's why every dragon can be exalted, and we can only dream with the perfect world where no dream dragon doesn't find its way to its perma owner... still, if it was so easy to find them, the game could not be a game anymore.
For me, triples and most doubles are just absolutely boring, a challenge that isn't a challenge anymore and only look well with skins or clothes because the dragon itself don't call any attention. I could only keep one if it's for a breeding project or a personal challenge. I prefer to exalt or sell them, but never are keepers, even G1 (which only have the appeal of rarity).
When I look a XXY or XYY combo that seems awesome (mostly poison/toxin ones), I know that there's thousands of those dragons in the AH for fodder price, so I don't really care about keeping the pretty fodder that I'm always grabbing in it. It's actually easy and cheap to breed no similar, but THE SAME dragon because the market is saturated. About inbreeding? Just cheap ones are related, I've never found a problem in buying other dragon for a plus 5kt in a breeding project.
But XYZ are really interesting and hard to find, most combinations don't exist yet in the game and thus, to find an actually beautiful one is a challenge.
One of my hobbies is to scry XYZ G1s for hours until something awesome is created, and I feel good when buyers follow that scry because is pure awesomeness; and breeding my dream dragons, all of them are XYZ that even being simple and well working don't exist in the game yet, and that makes them very unique, a challenge and a race to have the first one.

yeah, I don't like doubles and triples tbh, I like color variety in my dragons for the most part. I have a few doubles, but some of my favorites are really far spread xyz's. For instance:

I agree. I have no desire for an XXX dragon, and I find XXY dragons to be so... boring.
I have two XXY dragons - one is my Flambebe, who is SUPPOSED to be XXY (Flamebebes are an inside joke with the Fire Flight). The other is a dragon that was gifted to me when I first started because I was having a hard time obtaining a non-Plentiful breed (this because the site was still new). I do have a few XYY, but those are just to use fun genes with.
But I like contrasts. Like black/blue, brown/green, blue/white, etc... things that you can MAKE something out of.
For example, take Nebula: Periwinkle, Dust, Sunset. Unfortunate tertiary? No, let's fix that:

Or Relic, who gets a random Emerald tert that becomes moss on a decaying dragon:

I honestly don't know if there's a trend regarding XXYs. From my perspective, the only dragons that seem to sell these days are the ones with spot on colours and bearing the new genes. I mostly just breed and then train/exalt my dragons now, sadly.
