Hey! Old Shadowbutt here, maybe I can shed some light!
Shadowmama loves everyone <3 The habitats, they're dark, and shadowey, and mysterious.
Shadow never really seemed to be a dom house. I personally could never get into their system, but it may be the perfect thing for you!
The lore is pretty interesting, considering it's tricksters and what not, so you get some interesting things running a muck in the Tangled Wood.
The only thing I disliked about Shadow was the community is so huge it's really hard to become a solid part, or at least it was for me, I never really touched the forums except for a few times, but I always felt very small in Shadow, and hidden, and I know that's what some people love. I think a lot of people just hide in the shadows (pun intended!). Because of the shear size of it, it can seem a little disorganized too. But those are my opinions and Shadow may have changed since I was last there!
I left Shadow for Plague, and am very happy over here in Plague!

Personally, in my experience everyone there is very very friendly. Forums move slowly enough where you could respond to everyone if you wanted to, but they move fast enough where there's generally some new posts and threads popping up pretty often. (Also we've got a Discord Server if you're interested in that :D). I'm a bit too socially anxious to make friends but everyone I've seen is nice and would be open to that.
As for the atmosphere and lore, I love it more than anything. It's a good mix of dark lore but also trickster lore can thrive in here due to Shadow's nature. Personally, the habitats and geography are really cool and I love it. (Also, wow, Glowshrooms are some of the best #aesthetic out there). We've also got a ton of Shadow Subspecies, which are really cool.
As for Dom, I'm not too into it, but Shadow doesn't seem too focused on it overall. We've got a few threads, and when a push happens generally more show up, but we don't seem to win/try too often lol. As the largest Flight out there we've got to work harder for Dom.

Definitely! The Shadow Aesthetic really seems to lend itself to lore like that. Any sort of spy / assassin / sneaky lore would be a good fit in my own opinion.
