So, this thing is marked as a familiar by another dragon, and that interests me. Do runic symbols appear on the familiars we all know and love? Are they unique to the bonded pair? Does the dragon have matching runes? Do the runes glow brighter the closer the bond is? Do they start to fade if the dragon and familiar start falling apart? What happens when a dragon chooses another familiar?
Can they always tell when the other has died, because that's when the runes disappear?

Interesting theory. It brings up a question though - what about unbonded familiars? Take my clan for instance. I have more familiars than I do dragons, but I have a caretaker that looks after all the unbonded familiars (need that treasure and chests!). Would the caretaker and familiars share a runic bond? Also, would the runes show up immediately at placement with a dragon, or would it slowly develop over time until it became "permanent" at awakening?
