TOPIC | Quit asking about dragons not for sale!
For some strange reason, I'm having an influx of people messaging me about my pretty dragons that I'm not selling going, 'ERHMAIGERD I WANT THAT DRAGON SELL IT TO ME!' It's getting annoying. So annoying I've but a rather rude message on my clan profile. HECK! I even have trades popping up in the Crossroads for trades of dragons that are paired up with another dragon! Some trades are decent. Others are, in my opinion, asking way too much money. But yanno I spent the cash, save up the money, and WORKED TO FIND THESE DRAGONS in the AH! Seriously? That lazy?..... Anyone else have this issue and think its as annoying as me? I'm sorry to be (redacted) about it it's getting annoying to come on FR everyday and find these alerts and messages and think 'HEY! My dragons I have on sale sol...... awwwwwww........' EDIT- Like my pretty Aqua/Aqua/Silver Naida..... Mine! There was a thread about this not too long ago; I'll see if I can find it. The vast majority of people didn't mind getting messages about unlisted dragons as long as the person asked politely and didn't try to argue with them if they said no.

Edit: Here is the thread.

Well, gee, I don't know what to say about this one. I've been asked to sell some of my dragons that weren't for sale, and I've also been the one to ask other people of they were willing to sell a dragon. Some of my favorite were obtained this way to be honest.
In my opinion, unless the user makes it very clear otherwise, it really never hurts to ask.

coffee. need coffee.
I edited it into my post above, but in case you missed it, here is the thread from November about this. I posted there:

If someone asked about buying one of my dragons, I would consider that a compliment. I might even sell (sometimes I keep hatchlings, especially, around for a while before pricing them), or I might agree to let them know if I do a repeat breeding of the parents. I'd only be annoyed if they harassed me after I said no.

On the buying side, I'm looking for some very specific colors, so I have been messaging people to compliment their nice dragons and ask them to let me know if they ever breed another in similar colors, or if they ever want to sell the one I like. Everyone has been very nice to me, and I've even ended up being able to buy a couple of dragons that were not listed in the AH. I don't ask about dragons with RP descriptions or apparel or whatever, though -- I mostly ask about unnamed ones.

My apologizes to the mods about that lil' snippet. I'm just highly aggravated.

Well, I had a note in my profile, and well it looks like it's going to have to stay.

It is annoying.

I've been asked about dragons I didn't plan on selling and I've asked people about dragons it turned out they didn't plan on selling.
I don't really see any problem with it provided both sides are polite?

coatls are dead to me
I'm fine with it as long as they're not obnoxious. The only requests I've had were super polite, thankfully.

Random crossroads requests are never appreciated, it seems that poll's results also indicated a majority of people do not want random requests via the crossroads for dragons that are not for sale. Admittedly I may not respond to the messages if I'm not selling the dragon (I'm pretty busy) but that doesn't mean I'm offended.

As long as the person asking is polite, I don't see what the problem is. If you have a message on your profile and a message on your dragons' pages specifically saying the dragon isn't for sale, then people shouldn't be messaging you. If you don't, I don't think it's disrespectful to ask someone about a dragon of theirs, as long as both sides are polite. I've done this a couple times myself and every time I make every effort to be as sincerely polite as possible; I've gotten very fortunate, I suppose, to get in touch with users who are friendly and willing to chat and not offended by me reaching out, and some of my most prizes dragons have been gotten via private negotiation with users. I never try to pressure anyone into selling me a dragon - it's always 100% entirely their decision. I don't ever ask about dragons that are named or have a familiar attached.

Random crossroads, though? That needs to stop, stop, stop. I've had someone send me a crossroads trade (without any other contact whatsoever) three times for one of my most beloved dragons. As if they're trying to catch me off-guard and have me accidentally accept it. That is rude in my opinion. But a friendly message framed in a way that there's no pressure is acceptable. If someone asks about a dragon that I'm not willing to sell, I'll oftentimes offer to sell them a duplicate if he/she happens to produce a mini-me hatchling. ^^
