Well, being a magical student, she is eager to practice her magic for her friends, but not being well trained, she often ends up turning her clanmates into apples by mistake.
She left her original clan to pursue her study of magic, partially because the opportunities for study weren't as good there, and partially because everyone laughed at her when she said she'd be a mage one day. They weren't entirely wrong - she is very clumsy with her magic, but she studies hard and never loses heart about her work.
Her new clan encourages her study, but they are still quick to duck when a spell misfires :)
