There they lived, cut off from the surface world, happy living in the dark and the cold away from the evil brought by the greed of the dragons living above them. But some who were born there were not happy with their lives stuck in the ground, doomed to live their lives in those cramped tunnels. Whether by hard work, luck, or simple curiosity sometimes these dragons made their way to the surface. What awaited them on the surface varied from dragon to dragon, but those who didn't choose to return began their new lives on the surface, along with all the challenges that accompanied them. Some were sold as gemstones, others were celebrated as Gods of the underworld, thought to bring wealth and fortune. Some were chased back underground and others were treated simply as normal dragons. However, one thing was for sure. Those who left wished never to return.

However, one thing was for sure.

Those who left wished never to return.

A grin spread across his face. A gem like this would sure make his mom proud! He started trying to dig away around it, chipping away at the rock. Jumping back in fear with a startled yelp, his headlamp clattered off his head and went out. All around him he heard loud scratches and cracking, as if the earth itself was coming apart. Shouting out in fear to his team he drew his wings around himself and sat huddled there in the pitch black as he felt dust and rock rain down around him. When his team made it to cavern, once again shining light, all the saw was the young caver sitting - still terrified - by a huge hole in the rock. It started with some drilling. The vibrations echoed deep into the earth below. Amethyst, hearing this, knew that there was more to life than these cold tunnels she knew. There had to be something making those sounds. However she did not know how to find them. He spent a lot of his time exploring, yearning to once again hear the sounds of the other side. And bit by bit, he did. Various sounds made my dragons and other creatures led the way to the surface. And finally, once he was so close to the surface he could taste the fresh air, the strange tinkling sounds called out to him. It was some sort of festival, with dragons playing rhythmic music and singing along. Amethysts heart raced, desperately searching for a way to get closer to the sound. Amethyst

Drawn out by music
Amethyst had followed the sounds of dragons until he found the surface.

And when he finally did manage to find the source of the drums and voices, he marveled at the dragons as if they were creatures from another world.
