Essentially, she's an In Memoriam dragon for a cat, Penguin, who I lost to cancer a few years ago. I sniped my current avatar dragon off the AH a few days after she died because she reminded of her, but beautiful as she is, wasn't quite the perfect representation of my darling girl. Her primary and secondary genes merely being basic made her colors flat and felt like an affront to the uniqueness of the real-life Gwen, and Gwennie's eyes were green. So it was off to the scrying workshop. After what was probably a lot more time than it really needed to be, I settled on Black Metallic/Black Alloy/White Glimmer. The little hint of brown that showed in the black was what made me choose it over obsidian; it made me think of the color of her fur in the sunshine, even though it meant the difference between simply buying a dragon on the AH and what I had yet to realize would turn into a six year long breeding project (granted, that six year period includes multiple hiatuses of variable lengths). Obsidian/Obsidian/White is a pretty common color combo. My naïve self thought that because of that, Black/Black/White probably would be relatively common too. I thought it likely wouldn't be too much work to get my darling girl the perfect dragon to represent her. I realized rather quickly that I was wrong. I realized how hesitant I am to buy genes shortly after. I actually did the entirety of this project without buying a single gene or breed change scroll, even though I'd successfully gotten a Black Metallic/Black Alloy/White Glimmer female of a different species a few months ago. I could have simply gotten PC scroll and called it the end there. But I decided that if I was going to do this for Gwen, I was going to do it the way she would have done things. With as much extra and unnecessary effort as possible. And so I kept breeding. Finally, a couple nights ago, I hatched a three egg nest. I wasn't expecting to see my sweet girl in dragon form. I was expecting another flop. I certainly wasn't expecting to have gotten TWINS of my girl! I'm so happy to have finished this project, and I'm sure that my little girl would be happy with her dragon [emoji=heart size=1] Rest in Peace, Penguin If love could have saved you, you would've lived forever.
