Omg this is such a hard choice! At the moment, I would say that my favourites are Crystal, Cherub, and Metallic. Savannah is so pretty, I love how subtle it is and then the dark leg stripes and face markings. It's just really pretty to me and may absolute favorite. Poison is also really great. I love the accents especially when they work with the secondary and/or tertiary. Cherub is also a really pretty gene. I really like the tail stripes and wings around the eyes.

This is a nice one!! My favourite primary is iridescent. A good opportunity to introduce the result of a long ongoing breeding project: my bard-king of Faerie dragons, Taliesin! I actually planned on changing his primary to Jaguar, but Iridescent looks lovely on him too. My second favourite is probably Metallic. It doesn't look nice on all breeds, but it's great on most! Shown here by Count Verandis... And another favourite is Jaguar! I admit that I absolutely loathed it when I first saw it. With time ([s]and an FR related dream?![/s]), however, I began to see that it can look really, really great. Here's Bran, who loves the vines and flowers of the gardens on the island my clan resides on. This was a surprisingly hard list to make. Top five would have definitely been easier, but here we go with the allotment of three! Oh, and these are gene projects for three of my existing dragons, so if you pop into my lair to see them, you'll be catching them pre-completion. I'm using the images from the Scrying Workshop here with that in mind. Coming in third place... Petals This dragon can be found here. The way the colors break down (or in some cases, mix) with Petal is far more aesthetically pleasing to me than other genes, such as Poison or Pinstripes, and the curving lines used make the entire dragon just look that much more beautiful. It also gives them a sense of being either fluid or, in the case of some other species, like walking stained glass, but without the weird (to me) splashes of color that come with Crystal. While it does pair nicely with its companion secondary of Butterfly, my preferences for genes on this one has to go to Alloy, Bee, Saturn, and Shimmer, although those last two are also dependent on the secondary color and how it works with the primary. At number two, we've got... Cherub This dragon can be found here. There's just something that makes the little kid inside of me happy at seeing fluffy, feathery dragons. Maybe it's the fact that little me loved dinosaurs and current me knows that a lot of late-era dinos did, in fact, sport an array of feathers. It's also a nice balance between the normal, scaled appearance you think of when you hear the word 'dragon' and the fluff you associate with cute animals likes cats or hares. Pairing this gene with either Peregrine or Seraph is always a safe bet in my mind, but there are times Hex and Trail can work as well. I've got Alloy on this boy here largely because it's so shiny. Last but definitely not least, we've got... Metallic This dragon can be found here. What can I say? When it comes to colors, metallic is sleek and shiny, spreading the color across the whole body without any major changes to hue (my biggest hang-up with Iridescent), and if you pair it with good secondary and tertiary genes, it can give you some amazing combinations. As much fun as Metallic/Alloy is, especially with Circuit or Filigree, Metallic/Bee/Opal looks like a dragon shedding in clumps rather than in one solid go, and pairing Runes with a Metallic dragon just makes the tertiary pop like nothing else.

[columns]I was unsure of my favorites at first, so I just went through my lair and picked out the genes that I've used the most on my permanent lair members, haha. Here's what I got- [/columns] [columns] [nextcol]#3: Crystal [11 Dragons] -------------- Crystal doesn't always work for me, but damn if it isn't gorgeous. It has a special place in my heart since I adore shiny things, and it fits the aesthetic of a lot of my dragons. I mostly love it on my pirate captain, Servaos- it fits the crystalline look I was going for perfectly.[/columns] [columns]#2: Iridescent [17 Dragons] ----------------- I love Iri, it's my favorite out of the more "plain" genes because of the shifting colors! I especially love it on darker colors such as Aello here, it really brings out different hues that make them look amazing.[nextcol] [/columns] [columns] [nextcol]#1: Skink [18 Dragons] ----------- Skink still remains my favorite- it's almost always the first gene I use when I scry random dragons. The different accent colors and stripes really work with so many of my dragons, I can't help it! It's such a damn good gene. I especially love it on my birthday dragon, Ophiuchi- the base colors of Skink look so good, and stained makes them look even better.[/columns]

#3: Crystal [11 Dragons]

Crystal doesn't always work for me, but damn if it isn't gorgeous. It has a special place in my heart since I adore shiny things, and it fits the aesthetic of a lot of my dragons. I mostly love it on my pirate captain, Servaos- it fits the crystalline look I was going for perfectly.
#2: Iridescent [17 Dragons]

I love Iri, it's my favorite out of the more "plain" genes because of the shifting colors! I especially love it on darker colors such as Aello here, it really brings out different hues that make them look amazing.

#1: Skink [18 Dragons]

Skink still remains my favorite- it's almost always the first gene I use when I scry random dragons. The different accent colors and stripes really work with so many of my dragons, I can't help it! It's such a damn good gene. I especially love it on my birthday dragon, Ophiuchi- the base colors of Skink look so good, and stained makes them look even better.
