of course, i know her color gene didn't change--she's always been navy. it's the visual coloration that changed. i can understand, and even appreciate the realism of, a color change with age, but as i said, i was not expecting it at the time.
for example, this hatchling in the auctions right now has navy shimmer:

as you can see, there are only purples and dark blues in his mane and wings. so you can imagine my surprise when my perceived "perfect" Rarity aged with a teal color in the front of her mane and no purple whatsoever!

i'm glad this happened so early on in my playing, though. i would have hated to have many nasty surprises like this.
Duke, however, is thankfully one of those i'm using to breed into a "better" grown shimmer, although even his wings still have too much magenta for my taste:

i'd prefer her to end up with royal, to be honest. there are still magenta hints in the wings, but they're far more muted, and a deep indigo is more prevalent throughout. also, come on, it's called "royal." the color name is just a nice little treat for Rarity. ;)

ironically, that one is also ice iri! so tack some bluish gembond and water nest eyes on her, and you'd have my dream Rarity. :D

Yesterday I say a Skydancer hatchling in the AH, named Rarity. She looked spot on to me. I forget if she was tripled gened or not, definitely had Shimmer and Gembond. I almost bought her but she was a bit much for me.

she's lovely! i wonder if the pricing was an accident, though. :/ 9001 gems?
i adore skydancers and the graceful and regal look about the females is very Rarity! but my personal preference is that i just like seeing her holding a precious "jewel" if you will, as pearlcatchers do. but it's still wonderful to see what other breeds people make characters.
a couple of people mentioned Fluttershy-themed dragons? unfortunately, i haven't seen any but Raritys! does anyone have links or images of other pony-related dragons? i would adore a Pinkie Pie something or other.

lemontart419 I actually think the pricing for that Rarity was intentional. Her origin flight is Ice and now she's in a Lightning lair. I know she's exceptional, and for MLP fans they would want her, but I don't seeing myself paying 9001gems for her.
But perhaps it's to give a would be buyer a starting point for conversation. Or they're trying to recoup their money from gene-ing her up. (I have no idea if she was or wasn't, btw.)

I remember on the Skins/Accents board someone mentioning making cutie marks for accents at some point. I'm not sure what happened with that but they were planning on doing variations of the mane six marks and whatnot to avoid copyright issues.
