hello! my name is sunday or acho, i'm 24 use he/him & they/them, i enjoy writing, rambling about my dragons & video games!
please do not post on this thread, if you'd like to ask me about my lore or anything of the sort i ask that you dm me instead! I'd be happy to talk about it (i probably won't shut up lmao), this will mostly be full of headcanons, short stories and a layout of my lair so I can get a visual grasp on everything.

Cassius Castle was built several centuries ago by the god of the moon who was due to marry the love of his life, they were happy and were thriving; however as beautiful and kind as the sun god was, something dark buried under the grounds of the castle would take hold of his heart and he would kill his husband causing the sun to crash where the castle stood. unable to live with the guilt the gods returned to the sky and never stepped foot on sornieths ground again yet the castle was rebuilt... Descendents inherited the castle and would live inside it for generations to come, the gods were worshipped and the lands day-night cycle became something of its own magical phenomina that few archaeologists understood. Someone with immense connections and power would rule the castle and protect its land and so the Cassius name became renowned within the area.
Once ruled by King Darian & Queen Aurelia, they did not have the same powers as their ancestors before them causing a bitter hatred and tyranical rule. Wanting to secure their bloodline they brought Flynn into the world, who was an easy target for the darkness in the castle... It wasn't long until the king and queen met their end... Flynn was raised by a gentle nocturne and his memories were replaced to something a bit easier to handle, Flynn became a graceful and kind king swearing to protect those who lived under his rule no matter what.

[font=garamond][size=4][color=#925585][b] .'+ location 2. Ruins of Sunov -[/b][/color][/size] [font=tahoma] a once lively town that was ravaged by both an unknown disease and its own residents, those who come here are either really brave or really stupid.
[font=garamond][size=4][color=#925585][b] .'+ location 3 & 4. Owned Territory -[/b][/color][/size] [font=tahoma] territory that the castle and its residents own, this is used as hunting & fishing grounds and the beach is used for festivals and communal activities (if the weather is okay).

[indent][font=tahoma]taken from screenshots of dimitrescu castle & hyrule castle, i want to portray the lair as both comforting and homely yet regal but not overly snobbish with that underlying feeling that something just isn't right.
The shift in atmosphere can definitely be felt, the village & community are tightly knit with genuine kindness and warmth but as you get closer towards the castle that feeling turns very quickly into dread and while the castle interior tries to portray that same warmth it's not as authentic, Callisto's tarot shop & fortune telling tent does provide a different kind of genuine warmth though.
The bottom image is exactly how i imagine each morning and evening to look like, most of the time the night sky is clear with a glistening full moon but on the ocassion that a bloodmoon rises there's a reference for that!

iv. antagonist & hauntings

'the thing' is an unknown entity/creature that has presumably been around since the castle's creation, its something no one understands and hides behind the fact the buildings already haunted. It appears to be sentient as it picks and chooses its victims, how they die and when they die. Over time it has learned to clean up the evidence after itself and adapt to make the search for it all the more difficult, what its motive is for this torment is unknown but one thing Flynn knows is to keep his parents bedroom locked.
The only time it truly showed itself was during the demise of Flynn's parents, they had always been paranoid and ruthless with their ruling and inevitably fell to the curse of their bloodline, however Flynn reminisces that a week before their deaths paranormal activity had increased and become rather demonic (throwing of items, scratches, burns, etc.) and it caused dragons to become rather uneasy at the activity. It was then speculation that whatever was targetting the king & queen eventually got to them.
While it's merely rumor that Flynn's bloodline is cursed, there is evidence of previous ancestors who ruled the castle to succumb to paranoia and insanity due to the same demonic activity a week before their deaths, what causes their deaths directly is unknown.
it is unknown how deep the influence of 'the thing' goes and whether or not it was messing with Flynn's memories or actively controlling him, if possession is within the limits of its power there is much to be concerned about. 'the thing' enjoys attention from those who poke and prod at the castle's history but doesn't actively feed off it, however there is a possibility the blood moon has something to do with its existence.

despite the overarching threat that looms over Flynn's bloodline and home, there is a number of hauntings that are far less threatening. Mostly old residents and those who lived and died in the castle. The only outsourced ghost is Ganymede who is attached to Callisto's tarot deck, the other ghosts learned to appreciate him; previous rulers also haunt the castle and try their best to dictate how Flynn should be running the castle but the wildclaw turns a deaf ear to the complaining... However while most ghosts are harmless, there are demonic creatures to be concerned about...

[font=tahoma] the blood moon is a recent unnatural phenomina that occures when the clock strikes midnight, it lasts an hour and summons a specific group of demonic dragons. it was caused when a seal under the castle was broken and awoke an ancient evil that had once been a war with the sun & moon god, now terrorizing the land once again; plants wilt and die giving life to new unnatural flora and the fauna is nothing short of reanimated bones and hostile creatures. the magic is even stranger, similar to the gloom in totk it should remain untouched.
