TOPIC | [Lore WIP] Shimmering Frost
Clan of Shimmering Frost
What we live by we die by. -Robert Frost
The Clan of Shimmering Frost (Shimmer for short) was founded by dragons now know as the First Five. These dragons are a collection of gaolers that came from every corner of Sornieth but were brought together by a strange pull on their hearts. This pull brought them to the foot of the Shimmer Spire.

Within, they discovered an entire stronghold, built to contain an army of Shade. Yet it was left mysteriously empty. Not a Gaoler nor prisoner in sight. With the pull on their beings finally at rest, the five made camp within the abandoned spire.

Though there were little personal effects within the spire, the five did find records of an ancient clan of gaolers dedicated to serving the Icewarden and containing the Shade threat.

After the five learned of their species's purpose, Mazer suggested that they carry on that legacy. For all they knew, it could have been the Icewarden himself that called them to this place. Each of the five took up the mantle of one of the ancient orders.

And thus, The Clan of Shimmering Frost was founded.

Though they started with only five, word of Shimmering Frost's mission spread quickly through the lands. Soon Gaolers and Tunderas from every Flight flocked to the spire to serve their original deity.

Please don't post yet, this is still a W.I.P. and will likely be updated with new additions in the near future. Feel free to message me if you're curious.

Shimmer Spire of the Fortress of Ends

A tall and mighty spire of ice that is hollow within. Generations of ancient Gaolers hollowed out the insides of this spire, creating a home within it and prisons beneath it. Though the ancients have long since died out, the spire was rediscovered by the First Five. Together, they worked to refurbish the rundown spire and remake it into a functioning fortress.

Within the Shimmer Spire are the following:
Prisons – deep cavern dug beneath the Spire confine captured shades and shade-tainted. This is done mostly for containment, though a few archivists have argued for studying and understanding this taint.

Nursery – a surprisingly cozy den in the center of the Spire. Hatchlings are not given names, nor will they receive any until they are old enough to join an order or leave the clan. Very few hatchlings stay with Shimmer, deciding to explore new lands and new ways of life.

Archives – one of the few cases where gaolers can be found hoarding. This room is filled with maps and research on the spread of the taint and it’s effects.

The Hall – a room with five thrones marked with the symbols of each order. Eventually the hall was expanded to be a large meeting area where the clan could gather and discuss issues.

Dens – many smaller caves dug to house a five to ten dragons at a time. There are no assigned rooms, though mated pairs tend to sleep next to each other. As these dragons do not hoard, dens are only used for sleeping and are very impersonal.

Infirmary – housing for wounded or ill dragons in need of recovering.

Training room – where dragons either learn or practice their fighting skills. Weaker shades are sometimes released into this room for hatchlings to practice their capturing and containment strategies.

Burial ground – the clan’s dead are buried along the borders of Shimmer territory to act as spiritual guardians. There are no specific markings for each dragon, just the wall that separates their territory from the Outside.

Laws
• Hatchlings are to be protected above all else.

• Cowardice is not tolerated.

• Intruders must be challenged and captured or chased off.

• Shade-tainted should be captured instead of killed, if possible.

• If a dragon is consistently not preforming their duties, the Wardens may vote to banish them.

• The Dead are respected and honored for their sacrifice.

• Children of other deities may visit the Clan and are welcome in it’s territory, but are not allowed to become permanent residents or join the orders.

• Those who are not shade-tainted or considered enemies are free to come and go as they please.

• Tunderas are children of the Icewarden, just like gaolers, and are allowed to join the orders.
