I'm currently sculpting the head for my marble fox art doll, and I realized too late that the eyes were too big (air dry clay T_T). Oh well, it's an art doll, I guess I can get away with it...

How is the anatomy so far? Because of the eyes, I keep thinking the muzzle is too small but it looks in proportion to the fox photographs I'm referencing.
I'm going to flock the head in fur later on, so I want to get the basic shape perfect..
Any advice?

I think it's cute. What body are you using?

Carnivorous animals tend to have their eyes on the front. It feels like yours are currently a bit too much to the side. The muzzle should also be a tiny bit pointier at the nose I think, right now it resembles more that of a dog than that of a fox. I agree you should elongate the snout just a bit.
Keep going though, it looks really cute so far!

@BlackChimera Thanks! :D I'm making the body out of wire with plastic tubing to control where the joints are (the plastic act like bones - where the wire isn't covered with the tubing, it will act like a joint) Then I'm going to use quilt batting and fake fur to cover it up.
I made this one before, without the plastic tubing)

@Meese Thanks for the advice! Yeah, I realised too late I made a mistake with the eyes... It's my first time using air dry clay, and I think because it was so wet when I was working with it, the eyes just slipped out of position and I sculpted over it before I realised. :( Oh well, lesson learned..
Anyway, here is the snout now. How does it look? I feel better about this now than before :)

Study fox skulls, it will help you a lot.
If you're looking for realism, there are a few things that stand out. The first os the forehead, as a fox skull is actually rather flat - there are angles at the base of its nose, then flat surface, then angle over the beginning of the eye, then flat surface, then another angle on the 'other side' of the eye, and then it's flat. Yours is quite rounded.
Also, foxes have sharp snouts! I would make the nose a little bit smaller and... not elongate it, but make the snout thinner. I actually think yours might be a little bit too long!
Here's a good reference for the forehead thing:

@Finnley Thank you so much for the helpful advice and the reference! I see what you mean by it being flat. I've taken your advice on the angles and sanded away the roundness. *coughs from all the dust in my room*
I guess it's too late for 100% realism now, because of the position and size of the eyes, but I'm going to flock the head with fur and hopefully it will work out. Thanks again, your advice really helped. :)

Whew... next time I'm sticking with good old polymer clay. T_T
