My apologies if there's an existing thread on this, I couldn't find one.
So I had a iridescent/shimmer female fae hatched recently with a set of colors that I really liked. And she looked fine as a hatchling, but when she grew up, I could tell that her wings didn't look right anymore. Their color is supposed to be Ice, but it looked very different from the Ice shimmer on a male fae that I had before.
I did some searching and found that on female fae, Ice shimmer shows as Platinum shimmer, but shows properly on males. These two fae both have Ice shimmer.
Fae females that have Platinum shimmer display Ice shimmer instead. Again, males look as they should. These two both have Platinum shimmer.
I don't know if this extends to other colors, as well, this is as far as I've noticed. For what it's worth, the hatchling images all correspond properly, the issue happens when they mature.
