Marigold is the gardener of her clan. For as long as she can remember she took a special interest in plants and flowers. As a hatchling she loved the special trips out of her clan's camp and to the field where her mother, the healer, collected various herbs. It was always to her mother's amusement when Marigold brought back beautiful flowers that were useless to her for healing.
As a young dragon Marigold always believed she would follow her mother's footsteps and become the clan's next healer when her mother retired. She never took much of an interest in her father's job as a hunter. She didn't have it in her to kill even if it was for her clan to eat. Instead she wanted to help her clan mates and work closely with plants at the same time.
After much training she soon realised that healing may not be the route she wanted to take. She found herself often getting lost in the beauty of the flowers and distracted from collecting the herbs she needed. Her mother who very much cared for her brought this up to her one day. Marigold, feeling as though she had failed, did not want to give up despite knowing her mother was right.
The next few days went by slowly as she spent her time much more distracted from her training than before. Instead of collecting herbs and trying to memorize their uses she was imagining other jobs that involved plants. One that came to mind was a gatherer but that still didn't strike her interest.
One day Marigold decided to take the day off from training. Like she usually was on her time off she was at the edge of a cliff staring out at the endless ocean, watching the waved crash against the golden sand. It was so peaceful and beautiful here. She was surrounded by flowers of all colours. She wished she could being some back to her clan but knew the flowers would soon wilt away. That was when it hit her. She could bring the flowers back.
She began digging up the flowers, roots and all and carried them back to her clan's camp where she planted them in small colourful arrangements. Many dragons looked up from what they were doing in curiosity but Marigold did not notice as she was lost in her work. She had finally found her dream job.
