BORN INTO NOBILITY by a king and his lionhearted queen, Mercedes was a lucky strike in terms of beauty. However, due to her new mutation of a breed -- a "Nocturne" like her father -- she was picked at constantly since Day One. Her mother convinced her father to cast her and her identical twin brother aside to save their dynasty from further taint, even if it shattered their offspring. So, before they could become adults, the king and queen sold their soiled firstborns off in the auction. They were priced high in hopes of numbing the heartbreak of the victims, but their efforts were fruitless.
Unable to be bought, Mercedes escaped the imprisonment of the Auction House and its crude conditions and wandered the diverse lands of the elements and beyond, now an adult. It seemed nothing fit her self-concept nor secretly big ego. Just when she considered diving down to the Tidelord and letting herself be washed ashore, Mercedes stumbled upon sunny ruins, where dragons lazily basked in the light or tried to decipher the codes ancient dragons left for them. The first clan she spotted was obviously without a leader, but they still retained the organization to take her under their sun-spotted wings. In turn, she traded the secrets of lost lands and empires, but never her sorrowful past: she did not want to be seen as weak.
It was not long until she was seen as strong, as the true gem of the clan. She now sits on a throne and accepts all newcomers for who they are -- especially if they're Nocturnes.
