______ Beautiful, blood-soaked, brutal: where Lakshmana goes, bodies follow. She finds sport in death, and those that cross her are quick to make up their missteps by losing their toes, their feet, or perhaps their legs entirely. There is a reason she is the queen of savages: respect among their kind is only gained through crushed wings, broken spirits, and missing bones-- things she has a constantly-growing collection of, given the number of willing victims that deign themselves her 'subjects'. One would think that by killing her followers, she would inspire unrest or mutiny, but it only serves to draw more battle-hungry brutes. Those who question her ruthlessness are always the first to go, and those that replace them are infinitely more useful on her quest for power.

______ There are rumors that she wasn't so wild, once. There are rumors that she really is royalty, not just a self-anointed goddess of blood. The stories say that she was forced to mate with the prince of another clan, that he abused her for her beauty and took joy in her suffering. They say it is his bones that Lakshmana wears as her armor, so that he might be useful one more time even after his death freed her from her life of innocence.

______ The last dragon that asked if the rumors were true had the pleasure of seeing his own spine as the demoness smiled.

Bone Collector wrote:

Lakshmana took great pride in her hoard. Unlike those of other dragons, who's fragile trinkets were but a testament to their petty obsessions, hers was one as much of memories as it was items. These bones had stories, and though they differed in means, the end was always the same.

She took hold of a tooth with a cruel smile. This one, and the others in the gristly pile, had been removed from their previous owner long before she had granted his wish for death. He had been so confident in his foolish plans to usurp her, so very eager to enter into battle. How quickly his cries of bloodlust had turned to those of pain.

And this - the crushed fragments of what had once been the wings of a proud assassin. His pride and resilience had only made it sweeter when she finally broke him, shattering his bones one at a time and enjoying the sweet music of his screams until the moment the light left his eyes. Next to his remains, too, were those of his employer, a cunning Imperial with massive hoards of gold. It was with relish that she piled the golden ingots on his bound form, one after another, until finally the weight of his once treasured riches crushed the breath from his lungs.

And there was, of course, her most treasured collection- the one that never left her form, and which served as a warning to all who opposed her. Though he'd been a monster in life, his bones served her well as armor long after his death. Lakshmana smiled. He owned her no longer. Now she was the monster to be feared. And may the gods help any dragon who forgot it.
