Amaete flies through the desert. He had a great day of sleep, and now it’s night, he continues making his way through the sands. It’s way too hot to travel during daylight hours, so Amaete changed up his entire sleeping habit just for this journey. But, it was worth it! The stars are beautiful tonight, and the cool breeze is nice on Amaete’s skin. The moon is full, which is good, as he has almost reached his destination. A place Amaete has read about a lot, but has never seen before. Tonight might finally be the night! Something he has wanted to see for years now…

Suddenly, millions of flickering lights pop up in front of him. Surrounded by trees and plants, a little pond stands in the desert. But that pond is not why he is here. No, it’s the hundreds of flowers that set the desert alight surrounding the body of water. Amaete has read all about these flowers, and how they only bloom under the full moon. He’s not really that interested in flowers, but the way the author described it sounded so incredibly magical and wonderful that Amaete had to see it for himself!

Amaete slows his pace before landing safely next to the pond. It truly is magical, all those tiny, delicate flowers that almost seem to glow in the moonlight. He knows they don’t. In fact, the author of the book he read about this explicitly wrote that the petals of the flowers only reflect the moonlight. But it’s pretty all the same. Amaete settles down to soak it all in. He cannot write flowery words to share with others, nor is he very artistic in other ways. But that’s okay, because this moment was meant to be all for himself anyway.

Maybe he should visit places he reads about more often.
