Also, the place looks otherworldly, sure, but it smells like death.
It's a drying out hypersaline slush filled to the brim with dying plants and fish,
marine bird poop, and half-rotten remains of god knows what else...
So guess how people use it?

That's right, they come to the banks of the estuary, get in the slush,
grab handfuls of the foul mud and slather it all over themselves.
It's therapeutic, apparently.
