Mar is my personification of the ocean. I generally follow the theory that there is no ocean without both the earth and the moon, especially with the amount of evidence we have of the moons orbit effecting the tides. If you look at the genes under the apparel you'll see I made a reflection of the beach and tides using the way the colors bend with certain genes. The ocean is usually referred to as feminine but with the concept of the seven seas in mind I think it's a good idea to use neutral pronouns as well.
