To inaugurate this first volume, let's do a quick presentation of the different shops that find themselves in Alysia and their respective owners. As one can guess, trades and goods are always a good reason to visit a new town, not only for the consumerist impulses, but to share or discover a new culture, by their food, their products and creative goods. So let us present you our lair's prides and joys!
THE MISTRAL ANVIL
Have you ever been attacked by local monsters when traveling? Maybe tensions are at their highest with your nerby clans. Worry not, Manx is here to build you the sturdiest weapons from this side of the Singer's Brooke to defend yourself!
Strong, fun, and charismatic, Manx learned blacksmithing in his homeclan of the Ashfall Waste, deep in the Flintlock Fumaroles, battleing with the cascading fissures and volcanic gases. The fresh air of the Singer's Brooke convinced him to put his luggage down, and how thrilled we are to have him as part of our lair! There is no more reputable, talented and passionate forgemaster than Manx.
The warmth of the forge can't make you forget about the living weapons flying through the place, however! As talented as he is, some of the armory pieces he makes unexplainably come to life, right here, in the forge! "You get use' to it atta point! They ain't gonna hurt ya, though, worry not! I got this." As charming as he is, Manx has not 'got this', but surely he will someday. Don't let that deter you from ordering from him, though, as his craft is mastered to the Windsinger's domain and back!

MARIO'S MARIGOLDS Is there anything sweeter than a business built by love? We don't think so at the Gazette, and Alkener's dedication to his wife, Mario, has touched us to the core! In Alysia since it's foundations, Alkener is the one you can thank for most of the town's buildings. Strong both in body and in mind, Mario's Marigold has been the first real project he came to terms with, only a few steps southwest of the Central Plaza! From amaranth to orchids, dafodils or a plethora of succulents from all over Sornieth, you can not get enought verdure at Mario's flower shop! Whether you need medicinal plants, or just a simple bouquet to decorate your house, she has everything you need, and is more than willing to haggle her prices, if only to share her love of flora. With the help of her husband and her travelling friends, she has put together three books about Sornieth's plants, how to identify them and how to use them. |

AT FONDANT'S SWEET TOOTH Between the smell of a fresh cherrie pie flowing down the street, and the colorful display of macarons lighting up the showcase, Fondant's Sweet Tooth will know how to welcome you. The young baker picked the least decrepit building to make herself a home, and, to our greatest delight, a lovely bakehouse. "Baking has always been my passion. I've wanted to have my own little shop since I was a hatchling, and baking pastries is my love language!" Fondant tells us. You can also find her on the Central Plaza during festivities, selling special limited goods she made for the occasion! |
But she is not alone in this dream of hers, as the well known Equinox, itinerant chocolatier, has joined her to spoil us! With a seemingly endless stock of exotic chocolates, she combines the bitter taste of raw cocoa with so many floral, sweet, or fruityful flavors! Every months, her repertoire finds new and exclusive treats, with some of them being limited editions, so you better stop by regularly if you're rather fond of sweets.
THE BAMBOO'S LIGHT!
Nestled on the outskirt of Alysia, the town's local tavern hides a strange secret. During the day, it looks like an ordinary inn, a place where weary travelers can rest and locals gather for a pint. But the regulars know to leave before the last light fades, as the shadows get darker, the hallways get longer, and the exit isn't where it's supposed to be. The tavern shifts, and leaving doesn't seem to be an option anymore. Finding out more about the liminal spaces of our strange town, both for knowledge, and for the safety of all who come across Alysia. However, it is said that a key can be found to open the door to your freedom if you ever get trapped, but no one can confirm this information, as people lost in the inn tend to never come back from it. No one really knows if the curse of the Bamboo's Light is due to a spell, or if the tavern is sentient, but our research team is on it!

Welcoming and charismatic, these are the first things you'll notice about the Bamboo's Light's owner, Pie! She knows how to attract you as much as she knows her cocktail recipes. Artisanal beers and cheerful laughter are a guarantee from her. She did warn us about the strange things going on in the tavern we talked about before, but that doesn't mean you can't stay for a pint or two. Just don't overstay your welcome. A fast-paced and talented cook, Yadira makes delicious meals at the Bamboo's Light! He specializes in cooking up forgotten recipes, that he can make if you've tasted them at least once. You can also ask him to make you what he calls a 'Proust madeleine'. "Where I'm from, a 'madeleine de Proust' is a common expression referring to a smell, taste or sound which dredges up a long-lost memory," Yadira explains. We are eager to try it! |

STRANGE SHOPS INDEED... Depending on how long you've stayed in our beautiful town, you might have noticed the rather... peculiar atmosphere we have here. So many things question us every day, and while our research team is set on discovering all of the paranormal odities we have around, we have many more to unravel before our curiosity is satisfied. Our lovely shopkeepers do not escape that rule, I'm afraid. We ask out visitors and inhabitants to be very careful with the sort of trades you get into! While most of our shopkeepers are safe to trade with, there are still many things, both about their goods and services than themselves, that we still need clarity on. This last section of our first edition of Alysia's Gazette will put some light on our strangest shops! |

WHISPERING WONDERS
Whispering Wonders is a place of perpetual fascination and dreads. Charles, its cryptic antiquarian, runs the place with a knowing look and will talk you into purchasing one of his cursed possession. He refused to give us more informations about some of the artifacts, but we recognized the infamous Hand of Glory, said to be lost to time or even destroyed. It is unclear if the Hand is legit or if it's a replica, but we will keep investigating. Despite the dangers, or perhaps because of them, collectors and thrill-seekers often find themselves in the Whispering Wonders, hoping to uncover long lost legends or get their hands on powerful relics. We strongly advise you do your research before you buy anything from him, as most of his wares are dangerous, both for its owner than the people around them.
THE LOOM OF LIFE
Ah, the Loom of Life. Probably our most controversed shop around town! We needed to give it it's own section, but hoping it won't incite you to seek it out, as it is certainly most dangerous, as destiny itself seem to be woven into existence here. Don't be fooled by the intricate lace that shimmers too brightly, or the elaborate garnments exposed on the manequins who aren't as still as they should be. An otherworldy atmosphere radiates from the shop, and any piece of cloth you buy from the three enigmatic sisters running the shop will seal your fate.
The first figure you will come accross is Decima. Trusting anything she says might not always be a mistake, but be prepared to resist any impulse to buy from her. You will always like what she chooses for you. No matter how eye burning it is. Her kind suggestions will take you to the back of the shop, but pay attention to the path she guides you on.

The youngest of the three, Nona, is the one in charge of weaving the fabric. We didn't take the risk of asking her why her customer's lives were so drastically changed whenever they ordered from them. And finally, Morta, the eldest, has an oppressive presence to her. Not to dive into fear mongering, but whenever she cuts a piece of fabric she was working on, we can feel an uncomfortable weight. I wouldn't wear anything she fixes for you, if I were you. |
