How much is an intact pearl from a dead Pearlcatcher worth? Quite a bit, actually... millions if you find the right buyer.

This was Brynn's goal. A desire to be rich and live a luxurious life beyond his means brought this dragon to criminal and downright abhorrent acts in order to achieve it. Perhaps some would empathize with his desperate acts to gain wealth if he wasn't already well off to begin with.

He grew up as a wealthy child to wealthy parents. Perhaps not too rich, but well enough off to afford whatever luxuries he desired. This created spoiled behavior within him at an early age that didn't disappear within his adult life, in fact, it only grew worse with age. As he aged, he desired more and more. The rarest of the rare, the shiniest of baubles, the most decadent of decorations. Brynn coveted them all, regardless of if their only purpose was to rot away on a gilded shelf. He had money, but he didn't have millions and that bothered him endlessly. Working for his money wasn't an option so he decided to steal and sell what he could to get more and more.

Then he heard of the 'big hit'. Whispers of a Pearlcatcher holding a pearl that wasn't her own but that of a dead Pearlcatcher would be the ultimate score and would set the Imperial up for life. He had quickly set out his plan, entering the Halls of Atonement to steal from one of the Lords within. Of course, the Assassin would be quick to spot the intrusion and take him to the Sire. After hearing of his plans the Sire sent the dragon into the cells within the Halls to atone for his crimes against one of his loyal. With everything being taken from him and left to be tormented within the Halls, perhaps he may have a change of heart or die with his unreasonably high standards.
