Leolin used to be a baroclinic runner, a group of lightning citizens who devote their lives to searching out freshly-formed fulgurite. The only thing stopping her from continuing this career is old age, which has left her a bit too creaky to go running after thunderstorms. Why move to a nature clan? Really, Leolin did not have a preferred place of retirement, just somewhere exciting. What really pushed her to leave the lightning territory, though, was a young person named Kyrian. Kyrian was looking to move out of lightning, not being a particular fan of the culture, but didn't want to go on a journey by himself; however, when he heard a baroclinic runner was retiring, he just had to ask her to go with him. After all, baroclinic runners are widely known as being fearless, and she would therefore make a perfect travelling companion. Leolin agreed, said one last goodbye to her old makeshift clan, and set off. Her and Kyrian travelled for a long time, with her taking on a somewhat motherly role towards Kyrian (she was old enough for it to be grandmotherly, but even the oldest baroclinic runner still has a youthful spark to them). Neither knew what they were looking for, just that they would know when they found it. And find it they did, in the form of a small cozy village on the edge of the Shrieking Wilds. Leolin never could have imagined herself settling in such a quiet place, but no doubt due to the influence of the local minor deity, she found herself actually quite comfortable in this new setting. At this point Kyrian was a bit older, and started to branch out on his own, although they still meet regularly. Leolin, meanwhile, has befriended some other villagers, such as Jasmika and Lilsia. She still has fond memories of the old days chasing down storms and the adrenaline of touching a recently-forged piece of fulgurite. In fact, she has a small stash of fulgurite that she keeps in her new dwelling, carried with her during the entire journey with Kyrian. But over all, she is happy with her place of retirement, and plans to live here until her dying days. |
