Starstruck had always been more curious than her siblings... or, really, any other dragon she knew. She liked to ferret out Clan secrets and learn things just because she could, even from a young age, which got her in trouble more often than not. Her parents were either supportive or just wanted her out from underfoot, because they shipped her off as early as possible to school for journalism in the Sunbeam Ruins. Back then, she was a Ridgeback... and was remarkably successful despite being an already-distrusted large breed.

The only reason she didn't leave school was because she knew it'd be easier to land work if she had a degree. Starstruck found they taught her quite a lot about business and very little about the kind of reporting she actually wanted to do. Instead of teaching her self-defense and ways to exit dangerous places, they instead taught her about the formalities of reporting, many of which carried connotations of being polite and avoiding angering people in power.

She was already jaded and burnt out by the time she finally landed a job at a celebrity gossip rag. It was something, at the very least, but she quickly discovered how corrupt that world actually was. So many hatchlings performing, and getting chewed up and spat out by the industry. So many bright smiles hiding gore-stained teeth. Her bosses didn't want her snooping too hard; their job was to make fluff, and not anger the powerful people who could deny them access.

Starstruck didn't know why she confided this to one of the best-known networkers in those circles, but she could feel his demeanor change. The Dusthides had just revealed themselves, and he made the comment that she could sneak into more places if she was tiny. Especially with her coloring. They kept seeing each other after she changed her breed, and Socialite kept pointing her at new dirt to dig up. Starstruck had always felt a sense of drive and purpose in finding the truth, but Socialite had fresh eyes and brand new motivation. He was more than just a pretty smile. There was integrity buried in there, and Starstruck dug that up too. No wonder, then, that they were married shortly after.

The two of them make an excellent investigative team, aided by their dark coloration and quiet demeanor when working. The subtle patterns on their bodies break up their silhouettes in the dark, and the bright patterns on the undersides of their wings mean that if they have to fly to get away, they can usually startle their attackers. Their children are almost all excellent spies, and owing to the Dusthide insistence on staying close to family, most information taken in makes its way back to Socialite and Starstruck eventually.

Starstruck does not like residing in Clan AXQU, with all its weapons research, but she specializes in entertainment and ruling class monsters. It was hard to come after her when she had a monster den full of her own beloved found family to lay her head in at night.
