Biography
Gladiolus Narciss
Enchanting Spa Owner
-They/them, Aromantic
-Born on the coast of the Starfall Isles, life hasn't always been all sunshine and smiles for Gladiolus. Though perhaps their life wasn't plagued by the usual troubles one may think of when someone describes their life as "troubled", being from a stable family with a decent education and what was once considered a very attractive face that earned them much favour in life, that doesn't make it any less true. They've always hated themselves. This body, this face, the being that they are and that they were recognized as socially - praised for being, even. It never felt like theirs. Gladiolus was living a life that should belong to someone else. When they saw their own reflection, they did not see themselves, only the smothering opinions of others and the million tiny problems that they had with every feature on their face. When they tried to destroy it, they saw themselves no closer to whatever "they" were supposed to be, just the same old face now plastered in disappointment and anger. There was no one who could understand their plight, after all. Everyone wanted to be the dragon who came before Gladiolus. What more could they want? It was only when they discovered there was magic that could change the body, completely and totally, that they gained a reason to keep going. There were the conventional kinds, of course - changing ones breed, the color of your scales, or the pattern reflected on them. But if you spoke to the right people, were willing to take things further in your own hands, you could change anything. And that brings us to Gladiolus now. The impression of a Skydancer as dark as the deep sea, with trailing shimmering fins and glowing lures, transparent skin pulled tight across their organ filled belly and far too many eyes. Monstrous to some, but to them? Perfection. They were able to get their life together, and inspired by their own transformation, they settled themselves down in one of the Starwood Strand's worst neighbourhood's to run a small, inexpensive spa that seeks to help any dragon feel like their absolute best! Even on their worst days! Loving yourself is the greatest gift money can buy!
-It can only be expected that someone who willingly turned themselves into some kind of deep-sea creature purely for cosmetic purposes is kind of... a weirdo. But well, they're a harmless weirdo at least. As many people are. Their weirdness primarily extends to their odd beauty standards, finding the conventionally monstrous and horrific more beautiful than anything else, and finding enjoyment in the horrified reactions people sometimes give them. They prefer it, the horror and the shock, far more than they ever did the glowing praise for their old identity. Though when someone does praise their new self, genuinely and truly, they'll still be glowing for days about it. Despite that attitude, they aren't an unfriendly sort! Sure sure, they can be rather rude and enjoy the act, they like to shock people, but they're still here to help everyone at the end of the day. If you've come to them seeking just that, they're happy to take you under their wing. It's their mission to make sure you leave their spa feeling refreshed and comfortable in your natural beauty. Get those scales polished, have a sit in some steam or hot water to relax those muscles, get all those knots massaged out and buff those claws - whatever puts you at ease after a long day! And if you still have anxieties, then Gladiolus always has some advice on hand to lend. Just... maybe not for everyone. There are certain young dragons who do not need to be hearing that they should pursue becoming a monster if that's what they really want.
