As the sun's last light faded upon setting, the two statues breathed into life. The male rolled his shoulders as he stepped off his dais toward his mate on a matching platform, "Zahneel, my dear, are you awake?"
Silence greeted him for a few before a hand outstretched to hold his as a melodic voice responded, "Yes, my love."
They held one another for several moments. It had been years since the last they'd awoken together. As the light of the moon rose and illuminate their grove, Zahneel slipped out of their embrace to invert a large hourglass on a square platform in the middle of their shared space. This was typically how long they had before the Stillness took them over once again.
Without a word, he followed her as she opened a hidden door that opened into a stairwell, which descended below the grove. Despite being unlit, they both traversed it without an issue and made it to a chamber filled with the soft glow of moonlight, captured and cast from inlaid moonstone. Blocks of stone sat in organized stacks, awaiting the touch of a creative hand. His mate lifted one up, cradling the heavy stone as though it were nothing more than a pillow, and glanced at him, "Asheris, shall we begin?"
He smiled and nodded as he joined her at the carving table, their sets of tools hanging from hooks set into the edge of it. Together, they worked until the first sensations of Stillness began to set in, a slowness that felt like sand being poured onto them. With a deep breath, they held hands and looked at their accomplishment: six eggs.
Six children that would come into the world after the Stillness took them over. They moved each egg gently to the grove above the carving room and set them in a circle on the platform where the hourglass sat center. The sands were coming to an end and with all the eggs placed, Asheris and Zahneel shared one last embrace before retreating to their respective alcoves as the Stillness returned them to stone.
The second to hatch was Elisa. She was a happy and carefree child who loved nature. Nothing could deter her from her adventures as she clambered over rocks, zipped up trees, and dove into rivers. Each time she returned home, she would have various "treasures" she had found or made with her. Sometimes it was a flower necklace made from unique blooms, other times a rock of pretty shade of color. She never was empty-handed and left these to be found by her when the Stillness took her.
Elisa had a knack for discovering and finding lost things, people even. She eventually took a liking to being a private investigator in between periods of Stillness and became a legend due to her sporadic appearances.
