The vessel for the demon god's rebirth from《长月烬明》Till the End of the Moon. In a world where the arrival of the Demon God heralds the end of everything, a cultivation sect attempts to prevent the current calamity by sending Li Susu 500 years into the past. There, she will kill Tantai Jin- the mortal man who is fated to become to Demon God- before he is able to awaken his powers. But when she arrives in the past in the body of Ye Xiwu, Tantai Jin's wife, she realizes that there is more to his story. Ye Xiwu is a cruel and abusive, and Tantai Jin is a sickly hostage prince, uncared for and unwanted. Li Susu begins to suspect that Tantai Jin's becoming the Demon God may be a matter of nurture, rather than nature, and as Ye Xiwu she tries to improve her relationship with Tantai Jin and his treatment, in the hopes that in doing so she can prevent his turning to darkness. However, they live in a cruel world, and Tantai Jin must respond in kind to stay alive. Eventually, the hostage prince has a chance to rise against the kingdom that has imprisoned him, and he overthrows the Sheng kingdom and takes the throne of the Jin kingdom, uniting the two countries under his rule. Meanwhile, Ye Xiwu has realized that Tantai Jin completely succumbing to his dark impulses is inevitable, and attempts to kill him on their wedding night as King and Queen of Jin. However, her attempt fails- leaving Tantai Jin traumatized and injured. Ye Xiwu realizes that Tantai Jin possesses the demonic bone - one of the Relic of the Demon god that he was born with. The only chance of saving their world is utterly destroying this bone, but Tantai Jin will be killed in the process. Ye Xiwu is unable to bring herself to do this, and instead attempts to take the demonic bone for herself and destroy it with her own death, hoping that without the bone's influence, Tantai Jin can move on and live a normal life. However, Tantai Jin is driven mad by her death. He abandons the throne he tried so hard to secure, and searches for her soul for the next 500 years, before being rescued by the very cultivation sect that sent Li Susu to change the past...
