"It won't happen to me" is a terribly dangerous thought. A Necromancer prone to taking risks, Shroud is also a researcher delving into the Shade. She thought that the wisps of darkness infesting mere grasses and small animals couldn't possibly infect a dragon.

She was wrong.

After a number of experiments on plant life and Shadetouched critters, she moved on to attempting to control its magic. Surely understanding a thing would make it easier to defeat-? Scoffing at warnings of the danger, she began to weave and twist small amounts of dark magic. Too late did Shroud notice the fading of her Necromantic colors, the darkening of her wings to black, the shadow tainting her eyes. Too late did she notice the hollow feeling eating at her heart. She suspects the Shade tempted her, whispering promises that she would be safe, that she was needed, that it was necessary to delve into it. Now it may be too late, with the temptation to 'master' it drawing at her constantly... and the worst part is, Shroud can no longer truly feel why it would be such a terrible thing. Self-control fights with temptation every moment of her life as she continues her research, struggling to slow the Shade's progression in her body even as she strives to better understand it.

Lich of the Necromancers, tainted by the Shade.

A loner. Carefully avoids letting others know of her status as a Necromancer, let alone a Lich—especially the Council member and entourage occasionally sharing the outer dens.

Prefers the Dreadwing Clan lair's relative inaccessibility, remoteness and safety for a haven, though she keeps her active research far from the den.

Keeps the subject of her 19th experiment—a mutated rat who developed unnatural intelligence—as a familiar.

Exalting Shroud to the service of the Flamecaller will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
