Biography

Bathory
Bathory is the clan’s resident phlebotomist, an expert in handling blood. Bathory is always chastising other dragons about the importance of getting their blood tested and the dangers of bloodborne diseases, and reminding them how lucky they are that they have a phlebotomist on hand to test for diseases.

Although Bathory puts up a mature and responsible front, her personality behind closed doors is…different. She gets overly whimsical and ecstatic about the idea of bloodborne diseases, and testing other dragons’ blood, and the potential effects of magic on blood. She gushes over the samples she’s taken and their coloring and whatever magic properties they might hold. The few dragons who have gotten to see this side of Bathory are more than a little disturbed by it.

What doesn’t help is that Bathory’s blood tests are kind of shady. She’s oddly pushy about them, under the guise of responsibility in terms of getting your blood tested for potential health hazards. Once she has a dragon in the chair, she won’t accept them changing their mind, and she has no sympathy for dragons who fear needles. And most shady of all, nobody has ever gotten the results of a blood test from her back. If they ask, she just waves it off and says their results were normal.

Bathory doesn’t like to let dragons in to see her blood bank — she insists that’s for her and her alone, to avoid contamination. The other healers may be allowed in on occasion for medical purposes, but it usually takes a lot of pushing and insisting the necessity of it. Despite Bathory’s insistence that it’s to avoid contamination, she has another, secret reason, too. Because if a dragon regularly entered her cold storage, they might notice that samples that were there the other day are there no longer — and they don’t recall seeing her sending any packages out, and her testing equipment sits untouched and unused.

Surely she’s not…drinking them or anything. That would be ridiculous. Bathory’s not a vampire…Right? There has to be a normal explanation for where all this blood is going. A normal, phlebotomy-related reason, and nothing else.

Exalting Bathory to the service of the Stormcatcher will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
