The Tactical Adviser

"Though to most my element carries with it the notion of games and trickery, beneath this mistaken view of mere child's play is an admirable wisdom in strategy. It is this strength that I take my pride in perfecting. Like a skilled chess player planning carefully its next move, I will do my utmost to protect our dear home..."

Hidden within the twisting branches that form the impenetrable hollow of Sorien's Court lies one of the Fae's most trusted advisors, a perceptive and clever Imperial in charge of overseeing the clan's defenses. Though their territory is well secluded and hidden, far from the eyes of the more populated areas of the Nature Flight, rogue dragons and wild beasts prove an ever present threat in such untamed land, and the foreboding presence of the failed armistice has even this remote clan cautiously preparing should war manage to find them at the farthest corner of their Flight. Intent on protecting their haven, Pandus keenly processes the reports brought in by the hunters and sentries from their prowls throughout the clan territory, and watchfully keeps tabs on news from the outside Flights, carefully assessing the dangers to the clan and making sure they are fully prepared. His knack for making quick tactical decisions under pressure with the safety of the clan and the wellbeing of his warriors prioritized over all else has Sorien's immense favor, and the Fae will refuse to administer a single move that affects the safety of his dragons without Pandus's thorough consultation. So highly trusted is his judgement, that it's been arranged should something ever happen to Sorien and his Guardian, Mire, the two of them have personally entrusted the future of the clan to Pandus himself, a responsibility he takes very seriously...

Consumed by his work and perfecting his strategies, Pandus is almost never seen outside of the Court, content to remain within the tangle of trees sealing in the courtyard where Sorien and his closest dragons reside. When he's not directly at Sorien's side, he can be found in Jade's archives, reading and pondering over old clans and the successes and mistakes that strengthened them or led to their downfall. It seems the only way a dragon can stop Pandus long enough to get a friendly conversation in is to challenge him to a good game of chess, the only recreation the Imperial seems to allow himself. For such an elusive figure, to find him suddenly on the clan's main grounds as he heads intently for the Warrior's Clearing, it becomes quickly apparent there's trouble on the horizon.

Saphire's arrival was a remarkable find during the very first Night of the Nocturne, after the chaos endured from the swarms of mimics. Their shared connection to the Shadow Flight caught Pandus taking more than the usual interest in this intriguing new dragon, and all the more so when she seemed content in molding her personality after his. Such fascinating mimicry came to be greatly appreciated by him, where he could see and pick out the imperfections he carried as he saw them reflected in her like an honest mirror. With the way they refined each other, helping the other become the best possible versions of themselves, he'd hardly even noticed when his solitude became permanently shared.
