As the head cook of the castle, Natsumi enjoys a life full of luxury. He gets to prepare the food for Lord Akushin himself, and the banquets the rest of the castle's members partake in. If he had been a peasant, he would have most likely not been allowed to even taste his own creations. Fortunately for him, Lord Akushin has taken a great liking to him, complimenting him on almost every dish he makes. Natsumi takes great pleasure in receiving praise from The Lord. Orders for the dishes he has to make get passed down straight from Lord Akushin to him, or from Mitsuki. Natsumi, of course, enjoys getting orders straight from Akushin the most, as it is a reminder to his status as an immaculate cook. Rightly so, as he is skilled in almost all forms of cooking.

His cheery and talkative personality leads him to being liked by almost everyone in the castle, earning the trust of others is an easy task to him. During breaks from his job he will try to chat with his assistants or other members of the castle. The others appreciate this, but they also feel like Natsumi may be hiding something from this, they all share this feeling but do not speak about it amongst themselves. Perhaps there is something more to it, but if asked, Natsumi will simply say he wants everyone to feel at ease around him and enjoys a lighthearted feeling in the room.

Due to his looks, Natsumi often gets mistaken for a girl, or that he is way younger than he actually is. In truth, Natsumi is older than Mitsuki and a handful of other demons in the castle. As to why he dresses in such a feminine manner, he explains that he just enjoys the style. The other demons do not berate him for this. Outsiders often address him in an incorrect manner, he often teases them for this. However, the demons inside the castle know him for who he is and do not judge him for it.

Ingredients for his cooking get delivered to him from outside the castle, most of the fish is caught by the clan's fisherman, who Natsumi does not know. Where the meat and grains come from is none of his business, his job is only to prepare them. The ingredients vary from most common to downright odd. However, Natsumi does not mind, the stranger the ingredient the more interesting and unique ways he can find to prepare it. Dragon eggs have been brought to him before, in particular, a strange light green egg was given to him once. He had stored the egg for later use, but once he went looking for it, it was nowhere to be found. He deduced that it had probably gone bad, and was thrown out by one of his assistants. No ingredient is too strange for the cook, if Lord Akushin asks for it, he shall prepare it.

Due to his talkative personality, he has relations to almost all people that live or enter the castle regularly, including the errand boy that delivers his ingredients to him. Natsumi has described him as a 'kind boy' to others in the castle, who do not like him much due to the boy's status. However, Natsumi is grateful for his work and treats him with kindness. One day he entered the kitchen with a gift for Natsumi: a particular blue tea set with eyes painted onto it. It looked like something a witch would've conjured, while also still being rather formal. Natsumi was very grateful, and it has since become his favorite tea set, even if someone of his status wouldn't normally enjoy something of lower quality.
