Lineage

Biography

As a Lesser God, she was one of the later arrivals, who lost the opportunity to choose their own role and fate, and thus she was, hardly ceremoniously, left in charge of surveying the dead cosmos in search of a planet suitable for potential life, where the Followers of the Rift would take residence.

After centuries journeying, the Aetherbound finally settled on one, reminiscent enough of home to be familar, but exotic enough to provide excitement. While the Followers began to form their homes and communities, all was swell with the guarantee of a job well-done after what felt like eons of effort, wiping the brow in relief as a hand would to rid it of sweat.

Although the initial efforts in colonization were marked by some struggle as it was their first time, all remained completely free of worry, a mistake that'd reveal itself in time. With the Empress of Harmony and the Keeper of Calm as its leading elite, the structures both social and physical of this new society stood stable at first, but soon began to crumble when meet even the slightest of crisis and confrontations. No matter, the Gods decided, they'd only cover up the cracks and all would continue swimmingly. Surely, these issues have been dealt with properly, and none more shall arise.

Or so they had convinced themselves. Eventually, the cracks began to spread too large to go unnoticed, culminating in a sudden societal collapse of the world's first major settlement and capital. This disaster would go on heralded as a cautionary tale against the Gods, prompting almost all protest against their rule. To circumvent this, the gods still present simply took their cowardly leave, abandoning this world and seeking another to turn into their personal idyllic home, one where they would be to raise the following generations as their own family, as their own spawn.

With the Followers, the Lesser Gods were left behind alongside them, serving as scapegoats for the inefficiency of the Greater Ones. Wrecked by their betrayal and guilt from the shifted blame, they coped in their own ways, be it through solitude in exile, or atonement in solidarity, or other.

Aetherbound herself, she tries to live in a sort of secrecy, still somewhat ingrained in society, but with her former identity long buried. She leads an uneventful life in her hidden garden, plagued by vices to distract her from this misplaced guilt, as they spiral downwards in a cycle of self-destruction. She can only contemplate, "what if I had picked somewhere else?"
