Biography

Chaira
Alpha

Personality.png

A former member of Hailstrom, Chaira was trained to serve from the moment she was hatched, mindlessly fighting and killing to maintain dominion over their foes. Though her mentors tried to instill an unbridled aggression and a love for the thrill of war into the Imperial, Chaira maintained her mellow personality, proving to be a perfect foil to her much wilder and angrier mate when she eventually abandoned Hailstrom for good. While Nightkaia is a paragon of power, Chaira is a beacon of a more gentle charm, taking joy in the little things. While she is as involved in the activities of the lair as her position requires, she loves to be in her own space, preferring to be in her lair or reading in the clan library, though she does enjoy caring for the hatchlings of the clan or joining the day watch when she is not performing the due tasks of an alpha. Generally fairly quiet, Chaira prefers to do her clan work behind the scenes, but she’s not the type to shy away from a good conversation, happy to talk for hours about her favorite topics if she’s interacted with. Despite her seemingly introverted personality she excels in inter-personal and inter-clan relations, and is usually the peacekeeper within Ashthorne, Making sure the clan runs smoothly and taking great care to keep relations with other clans positive. Her diplomatic approach doesn’t quite come only from the goodness of her heart, however, as the Imperial refuses to fight in any situation that doesn’t come down to the most dire of life or death. Despite the extensive battle knowledge that she was trained to use against Hailstrom’s enemies, the battle of white rose and her mother clan scarred her mind for life, Bringing nightmares of the blood and death surrounding her as clan that had saved her and her brothers fell under the claws of Hailstrom well into her adult years. She hopes by keeping the peace, Ashthorn can survive and her mate can be proud of what she’s built. Deep down, however, she hopes that preventing a battle can stop another young dragon from going through anything like the part she played in Hailstrom’s attack, and holding anything like the memories she had of pouring a vial hidden under her wing into the alcohol stores of White rose.

Biography.png

Chaira’s existence was preceded by chaos, her egg being struck by the bolt of a far-wayward stormcloud of the Stormcaller’s domain, not only nearly destroying the nursery entirely but imbuing the stolen Light egg with a crackling, volatile energy as the egg hatched, releasing a brilliant white imperial with bright blue runes running down her sides and sparking with magical electricity. The leader of Hailstrom, Ornios, took special interest in the young imperial and her strange command over lightning, taking Chaira under his wing at a very young age, starting her training well before she should have been ready in a bid to mold her into the perfect weapon. For months Chaira trained under Ornios, building her strength and honing her power at every cost to please him, for if she didn't, she knew that Ornios would kill her to prevent the risk of his weapon falling into the claws of his enemies. The fear he instilled in the young imperial controlled her, and soon she found herself in the middle of a plot to destroy their Rival clan once and for all. A beautiful mirror the color of fog streaking effortlessly through the smog of the Blacksand annex. Chaira watched as the mirror came down, responding to the terrified cries of her brothers, and as she landed Chaira struck from the shadows of the burning forest and scored her claws across her throat, being sure to only touch the other dragon with the harpy talons crafted into the glove her mentor had given her. It was quick, leaving the imperial feeling sick and terrified at the ease of the murder of such a strong, and much older, dragon.

Stomping the fear down, she set to work, dragging the still-warm body of a harpy into the clearing and splattering blood on her and her siblings. It wasn’t long before they were found by a White rose hunting party, and they were brought into the clan for protection and food. Inducted as a guest into their rival clan White Rose quickly endeared itself to Chaira, never before had she felt so welcome among other dragons. Back at Hailstrom, Chaira had been regarded as a magic-ridden freak, nothing more than a pawn under Ornio’s claw. This clan, however, treated her with respect and Valanek was a benevolent leader, kind and gentle towards the young dragons now under his clan’s protection, a trait she saw within his Strong-willed daughter, Nightkaia. Her heart heavy, Chaira worked to become close to Nightkaia, using her to gain valuable information about the clan and it’s inner workings, but it wasn’t long before her means to an end became a genuine kinship with Nightkaia, almost causing her to abandon her mission. Her fear of Ornios would prevail however, and when the clan left to take their revenge on who they believe had killed their Alpha, Chaira snuck into the beermonger’s den and poisoned the clan’s beer kegs, using her magic to send a signal to the Hailstrom dragons who laid in wait down by the coast, sealing the fate of White Rose.

It wouldn’t be long before the battle began, and Chaira fought alongside those of her clan, though she never allowed herself to deal the killing blow to those she encountered. Eventually, she came face to face with Nightkaia, and the Imperial’s heart broke with the rage and betrayal she saw in her former friend’s eyes. Their fight was vicious, but a stroke of luck allowed the imperial to knock out Nightkaia, and after a moment of indecision, she took her friend on her back and flew. Unable to withstand the smog in comparison to the clear, crisp air of the Icewarden’s domain, She fell, the pair disappearing into the river that made the border between the Ashfall Waste and the Windswept plateau. The next time she woke, it was in a sunny glade beside Nightkaia in the Viridian labyrinth, and after a tense reckoning between the two, the pair started the long journey from the Shrieking Wilds, But it wasn’t long before they were separated in the Shifting expanse when a clan of slavers kidnapped Chaira as she hunted. For months, she toiled in the Slavers den until she was able to break out, one goal on her mind, to reunite with Nightkaia. Alone, she traveled to the Ashfall Waste, Following the vague directions of kind fire clans until she had made it to the territory of Ashthorne. Once again, as it had always been, Nightkaia fought against her, and in return, Chaira would not. Nightkaia would eventually yield, Unable to truly hurt the dragon who meant so much to her and ultimately the Mirror broke, Falling into Chaira’s loving wings as the emotions overwhelmed her. Once again, and forever, she was reunited with her mate.

One sunny morning when the smog was thin enough to see the sky, Chaira and Nightkaia had wandered into the den of Mak’ata, the Caretaker of the clan and his daily tally of the familiar of the clan. When she entered, Her eyes immediately locked on Martin and she fell in love. The walking fish, a very shy beast who had previously refused to bond with any dragon, immediately came to her side, squeaking and snuggling under her wing with a very clear lack of intention to leave.
While Martin is very reserved when alone, preferring to hide when nearby other dragons alone, His demeanor will completely change when nearby his dragon, becoming a very talkative and playful creature who wants nothing more than to cuddle at Chaira’s side.
