Biography

hO3pahQ.png
After spending her entire life below ground, maintaining the power lines throughout the earth, she grew bored of her day to day.
Not wanting to feel restricted with her work life anymore, Synth fled from the Shifting Expanse in hopes of finding a new home.
She journeyed all across Sornieth, not staying in one place for too long. Through her travels, she met many dragons with a variety of views on life. But she never did take a particular liking to any of them.
Synth continued to travel, and eventually found herself at the border of the Scarred Wasteland. She was cautious, and often hid beneath the earth when other dragons passed over. But her curiosity got the better of her, and she wandered into the Hellwell Undercroft. Synth kept her head down as she began to wander the interior of the undercroft, but none of the other dragons paid her any mind. None except the ever inquisitive Velvet, who immediately noticed when Synth had entered the makeshift gathering hall.

Velvet had been discussing his home clan's recent encounter with monstrous beasts near the Wyrmwound, and how they could better protect themselves from such battles.
Realizing that she was not from any nearby clan, Velvet ended his conversation with his former companion and made his way towards Synth. She kept her head so low to the ground that she didn't notice Velvet had stopped in front of her, and she walked right into him, nearly stepping on him actually.

"You don't seem to be from around here sandsurge" Velvet stated
"Oh! Um... I was just looking for someone, they had asked to meet here" Synth lied, but she couldn't help it. Despite their difference in stature, the spiral's eyes almost burrowed into her soul, and she feared that her life would be forfeit if anyone found out she was a lone dragon, without the backing from a clan.

"No one agrees to meet outer clans here, you can try again and maybe I'll let you go" Velvet replied, motioning to two imperials eating alone. Even she could tell they were strong.
Synth choked down a yelp, understanding what he meant. Those imperials were with him, one wrong answer and it was over. She decided to tell the truth.

"I was never happy in the Shifting Expanse, every day was the same. Travel the path, look for imperfections in the power lines, maybe get a meal if you did well that day, and return home." Synth looked around again, the other dragons still paying no mind to her or Velvet.
She continued, "I know that being a lone dragon is a death sentence these days with all the Beasts running amok, but I couldn't stand to live that life anymore." She growled and looked back down at the ground. "I felt that if I travelled far enough, maybe I would find my proper place somewhere."

Velvet's gaze softened a little bit, and he showed a small smirk.
"Well in that case, you should have just said that from the start!" he said excitedly. Synth's expression changed from fear to confusion as the spiral hopped up to meet her gaze.
"You see, the clan I'm from is a little different than the others around here. Nomads and strays are a pretty common occurrence for us actually. If you'd like, I can take you to meet our leader. Although fair warning, she is a bit of an oddball." Velvet smiled and returned to his imperial companions, talking with them for a brief moment, and then motioning for Synth to follow them.

As they headed to Velvet's clan within the quarantine zone, Synth found herself side by side with the two imperials from before. Feeling even more intimidated, as their muscles rippled with each step they took. One of the imperials sporting a bright orange coat noticed Synth's fear, and gave her a reassuring smile setting her at ease a small bit.

Deeper now within the quarantine zone, Synth noticed more dragon made structures nearby, and figured they must be at the clan border now.
"Welcome to Charis Clan!" Velvet said with a toothy grin. He couldn't help but feel excited at the prospect of a new member to the clan. Especially one with the technical knowhow a sandsurge working the Shifting Expanse would have.

Synth followed Velvet to a decorated and oddly lush area of the clan encampment. "Our leader rests in here, mind your manners!" Velvet said before opening the door to the leader's room.
Inside was a sight to behold, not like anything you'd expect to see within one of the plague flight's most protected areas. An auraboa, guardian of nature, with feathers that shone like gold. She lay on a bed of large pillows, and oddly enough, a variety of plushies lay at her side also.

The auraboa noticed the two's presence and slowly opened her eyes, yawning and blinking a few times before meeting Synth's eyes.
"You must be a newcomer" the auraboa said. She yawned again and continued, "I am Rayne, leader of Charis Clan. Was there something I can help you with?"
"This sandsurge was wandering and looking for a place to call home, I was wondering if we could give her a chance to see if she has a place here" Velvet stated. Rayne slowly slithered out of her nest of pillows and plushies and approached Synth. Rayne looked her up and down and nodded.
"I don't see any harm in her staying for awhile. Fox and Sparrow have been begging for help as of late, maybe she can assist them?" Rayne looked at Velvet and smiled, "I do hope you'll show her around". She concluded before slithering back to her comfy bed and laying down to sleep again.

"I told you she was an odd ball" Velvet let out a small laugh. "Even though she seems aloof, she has done wonders to improve the health of our clan. And everyone has been happier here than in the other clans."

Synth smiled a bit and then followed Velvet out of the room and towards the lab.

Many months pass and Synth finds herself settling in with daily clan life. She ended up assigned to the research lab with Fox and Sparrow. At first reluctant to be working with electronics again, she soon found that work is better in good company. She became fast friends with the misfit scientists, and began enjoying her work. Better still, once she became a formal member of the clan, Rayne gifted Synth with a place to call her home. While the plants surrounding her are artificial, she still finds comfort in the cottage she was given. Complete with a hole in the floor she can bury herself into.
