Even as a hatchling, Saphir had always known that he would grow up to take Aoi, his best friend, as his mate. But after all of their hatchlings left to follow the Plaguebringer, Aoi left Saphir to join her children. Her departure changed the Mirror, who became colder, more distant. He left as well, happening upon the Evanescent clan in his wanderings. He had planned to leave after a few days, but urged by Arii to stay, he became a bit of a heartbreaker; after all, if Aoi would break his heart, why couldn’t he break a few too? His second mate, IanaGeminus, never saw their relationship. However, his next mate, Amalthea, was smitten was Saphir and thus, devastated when he abandoned her and moved on to his next victim, Emmy. It was Emmy who helped Saphir realize the pain he had caused Amalthea. Regretful, he returned to beg for her forgiveness, and slowly but surely, Saphir began to forget about Aoi and his old clan.
