Main Theme: A Final Waltz by Ludvig Forssell

______ Eirlys was the daughter of the royal family of the house of Athemis–a powerful Clan in the Scarred Wasteland. This huge domain stretched far and wide, and was envied by Clans all around. Growing up as the daughter of the King and Queen meant that Eirlys was extremely priveleged, and she grew up in a life of luxury. Her name means “Snowdrop” and this is because in the scarred wasteland, it was a miracle if it ever snowed, and considered a precious experience. Thus, she was precious to her family. For a royal family, there was a surprising little amount of assassinations, attempted coups, ect. Though her parents were formal, Eirlys knew they loved her, and she loved the attention she received. Her favorite pastime were the fantastical balls held every night, and she loved to dance the night away as well as the gorgeous dresses and masks.

______ Until the Plague. Most plague Dragons are used to disease and sickness, and this means that they are quite strong. However, this Plague was unlike any other–it seemed to target plague Dragons. The Dragons of the Athemis Domain panicked, quarantining themselves from all other Dragons. Some said that it was natural, some said the Plague was a mutation of an earlier disease, but still others believed that it was started by others purposely. They were right. Later on, a group of scientist Dragons were caught developing the Plague to kill of the plague Dragons. But it was never discovered who was behind it, and it was already too late. The Plague had ravaged the Scarred Wasteland, with most of the damage concentrated in the Athemis Domain. Eirlys’ parents had been good rulers, and had not cowered even at the very end. They visited the sick and dying, giving speeches and encouragement to their subjects. Their last words to Eirlys had been to search for the one that ruined the kingdom.

______ From this day forward, there was a change in Eirlys. She survived the Plague, and was in fact the only one of royal blood to do so. However, she was too young to rule, and passed the title of regent onto a favored councilor until the day she was old enough to rule. Then she began her search. Her determination matched her extreme sorrow, and she knew that she would find those who had killed her parents and most of their nation. They would never get away. Thus, she set off from the Scarred Wasteland and began her journeys.

______ Eirlys' journey led her a ways from her home clan... though she was still technically within the Scarred Wasteland. A different part of it, however - it appeared to be bordering the Tangled Wood. She knew no one there, and had no idea what she was supposed to do. Naxo and Harper, the clan's leaders, immediately assumed Eirlys was simply travelling. She went along with this, and was led to a lodge to stay at.

______ Nobody in the clan - which was called "Crow Callers", as she soon learned - seemed to have known anything about the Plague that killed much of her nation. It was probably for the better. Crow Callers was a long way away from the Athemis Domain, so it seemed reasonable that this clan was unaffected. However, Eirlys learned that there were several dragons in the clan who didn't know who their family members were, due to being found as eggs, or from leaving their home (voluntarily or otherwise) at a young age. She decided to get to know the wide variety of dragons she found, learning that apparently, Naxo and Harper similarly were the only known survivors of their home clans. Disease wasn't what drove them away, however, but war.

______ She hadn't met many Ancient breeds before, and decided now was a good time to learn about some of them. The most common Ancient breed Eirlys was finding in this clan were Aberrations, which she had seen before, due to them originating in the Scarred Wasteland. One Ancient dragon she met was Roche, an Auraboa. Eirlys had heard a little bit about Auraboa; they were a Nature breed, she thought, so it was surprising to see one that had clearly adapted so well to the Scarred Wasteland. Her surprise aside, Eirlys got along quite well with Roche; he was willing to teach her a little bit about himself. Due to not having any known family members, Roche adopted RockyRoad as a younger cousin. Maybe Eirlys would consider doing something similar someday.

______ One day, Eirlys finally decided it was time for her to move on - but she hoped to come back someday.
