Biography

Xiwang (Jshee-AANG
Position: Apprentice inventor

Xiwang is the only hatchling of Hyacinth and Aleric to stay in the clan. While most of his siblings set off on their own to forge new clans, Xiwang did not have such liberty. During his hatching, his egg was set upon by a group of harpies coming from the bowels of the greater badlands. Xiwang's egg sustained damage and because of this, he is unable to fly or truly walk for that matter.

With no way to provide for himself on his own, the large imperial tends to be very sensitive when other dragons call him a freeloader or worthless, seeing as how he struggles with those particular issues in his self-esteem. Xiwang usually tries to over-compensate for his disabilities by working himself to the brink of death. When he is assigned a task, he gives it his one hundred percent all and never refuses work. However, the issues with his inability to walk or fly have made things much harder.

About the time that Moriarity joined the lightning flight, Xiwang had just about had it. The large Imperial, using his front two legs (the only ones that worked), pulled himself to the nearby cliffside to try and force himself to fly. Obviously the muscles had atrophied over time and, since they had never really been used due to their defect, it was clear the dragon wouldn't go anywhere. This, unfortunately, did not keep the ripple patterned dragon from attempting it.

Gulping in a lung full of air, he threw himself off the cliff towards the stormy and tumultuous waters below. What happened next is to be assumed, Xiwang began to drown and sustained serious injuries from his fall. Were it not for Amaya, Xiwang would have easily died.

After that, Xiwang began to develop feelings for the large obsidian skydancer, but respected her relationship with her mate. However, the didn't stop the Imperial from spending as much time with Amaya as he could. After all, being friends was better than nothing. His friendship with the powerful skydancer prompted him to try and find his place again.

With the arrival of Moriarity and his strange inventions, Xiwang began to take deep interest in the intricate engineering involved. Xiwang begged Moriarity to take him as his student, and while Moriarity claimed that he was no master on the subject, he agreed to take Xiwang as his apprentice. In fact, the two have such a wonderful relationship that Moriarity built some sort of mechanical braces for the large imperial to wear. While the wing braces don't actually work to help him fly, they have allowed him to glide for short distances with the proper air currents. The leg braces on the other hand, have allowed Xiwang to actually walk properly to finally stop dragging his lower torso.

Things seem to be looking on the up and up for the handicapped dragon, and he has finally gained some semblance of confidence. He's up and ready to do his best to make the world a better place, working now to create useful devices to benefit those in need like he once was.

Lore written by previous owner.

As his expertise and skill grew, and his mechanisms grew more and more complex, Xiwang eventually realized that the time had come for him to spread his metaphorical wings and find a place more in need of his skills. His clan already had a skilled mechanic and he wanted to offer his creations to those in need of them rather than waste his time in a place where he found himself burdened with a lack of purpose and direction. He said his goodbyes to those he knew and loved after weeks of preparation, and he left with a heart that ached with both loss and the powerful longing to see the world.

He found himself in a tavern in light, not owned by any clans, but bustling with activity all the same. A dragon nearby slurred about their own clan, a ragtag but large group of misfits and mystics, and his ears perked with interest. A large clan of dragons, rejects of society, might be exactly the group he needed. He strode over, his mechanical legs creaking with each step, and settled down beside the wildclaw, who had begun another story of a powerful clan healer whose own wings were disfigured like his own. He felt his heart stir, as if something deep within him had been reawakened - perhaps he had finally found a place where his talents could find use.
