Biography

In the past, Sillica the Aether was just as brightly colored as her bandit crew, but an encounter with the Shade corrupted and changed her. Now, she is cold and cunning, seeing her crew as "underlings" to help sow chaos and destruction. She feels no compassion for these underlings, and is ready to dispose of them when they are no longer necessary.

Backstory:
As she pulled her armor over her light blue fur, Sillica looked around at the rest of her hunting party. Some of the dragons present looked excitedly ready: practicing their claw strikes, steadying their focus for ease of magic, or making a few test swings with their weapon of choice. Others looked more nervous, constantly adjusting their armor or glancing nervously out to the horizon, to the place where they knew their target was located.
They had a right to be nervous. After all, the creature they were preparing to hunt wasn't just an ordinary yeti or nochnyr. Their quarry was none other than an offshoot of the very Shade that had ravaged Sorneith throughout history. Sillica and her crew, the Glacial Hunters, had been tasked by (read: promised a large sum of treasure by) the Seekers to track it down and turn it over to the Keepers. Of course, it was a request Sillica couldn't turn down. So there they were, staking out a segment of the Frigid Floes, scanning the icy horizon for any signs of the Shade.
Her thoughts were suddenly broken when a shape began soaring through the snowy air towards the group. The figure quickly revealed itself to be their scout Calcite, the Skydancer's whitish feathers having almost blended in with the environment. As he skidded to a stop, he brushed the snow off his silver and platinum armor, his touch gentle against the rare material but hurried with panic. "Everyone be ready!" he called out. "The Shadebeast is approaching fast from the south!"
Barely a couple minutes passed between Calcite's exclamation and a hulking shadow appearing through the snow. By then, many of the Glacial Hunters were primed in a fighting stance. Both parties charged towards each other- the Shadebeast's dark tendrils being swatted away or dodged by the Hunters, and the Hunters' attacks seeming to have no effect on the Shadebeast. Sillica herself had pushed through the fighters to lead the charge against the Shadebeast, leaping around its attacks and countering with her own magical blasts.
However, her strategy was not infallible. A tendril of darkness whipped towards Sillica, and she leapt backwards instinctively. As she did, she spotted another tendril in her peripheral vision, but was too late to do anything before it struck her chest. The last thing she saw before she felt her body slump to the icy ground was her fellow Hunters slash across the Shadebeast.
---
When Sillica awoke, she was draped unceremoniously across the back of an Imperial in the Glacial Hunters- her blacksmith Shalen. From what she could hear, Shalen was conversing with two of the Keepers that they had been hired to give the Shadebeast. Suddenly, one of the Keepers stuck its nose in the air, before plodding over to Shalen's side and scanning over Sillica's body. Then, it turned to face its comrade.
"Vojeken." it said in a stern voice, pointing at Sillica. "This one is Shadetouched."
Sillica squirmed as the other Gaoler approached her. It laid its large paw on her upper wrists, and shackles of ice began to form. As it reached for the next set, she let out a loud cry as a burst of black erupted around her.
When the black mist cleared from her vision, she was sprawled across hard pinkish ground. She lifted her hands only to find the shackles of ice gone, replaced with a dark, dripping goo. Her fur had turned a charcoal color, her former bright blue now only evident at the tips. As she slowly rose, she saw a bright green Veilspun rubbing the frill of a young-looking, brightly colored Sandsurge. The pair turned to look at Sillica, fear welling in their eyes. It was then that Sillica noticed the tiny pile of gold beneath the Sandsurge's body.
"Don't worry. I won't hurt you right now." Sillica heard herself say. "I think I can help you."
The Sandsurge trembled. "Help us what?"
Sillica felt a smile spread across her face. "I can make you two great- greater than you've ever known. We can take what we want, and society will be unable to stop us."
The Veilspun tilted its head. "But how? Even with you, it'll be just us three against them." She gestured across the plain to a large city.
"Soon, it won't be just us three." Sillica responded. "We'll spread our influence to whoever will accept it- rescuing them from order's chains like I have you." She stretched out her open paw. "Sound good?"
The Sandsurge seemed to leap at the opportunity to take her hand, while the Veilspun hesitated for a moment before doing so.
"Great!" Sillica exclaimed. "Now, let the chaos begin."
