Biography

  • A singer. Was often told her voice was too rough to be beautiful
  • She is prone to stage fright so often sings alone or hidden away

Amaria hummed softly as she rested near the Plaza's gardens, admiring the flowers in the breeze and the beautiful butterflies flittering by. Amatinea was as bright and as bustling as ever, shopkeepers calling out wares and music tinkling through the air. She tapped a claw on the concrete in time with the melodies.

A shadow appeared above her, and her head tipped back. A soft green Wildclaw stood above her, claws plucking absently at the little harp he held. He studied her for a moment, then smiled warmly.

"Sing for me." He murmured, sounding inviting and eager.

"Oh, ah, I don't-" Amaria began, bashfully turning away. She had a difficult time hitting soprano notes, and there was no silky smoothness to her voice. It was low like velvet and had a tinge of roughness to the edges. Surely not fit for a string instrument like his own-

"Trust me, please?" He tilted his head, his claws growing more sure in their playing, tempting her to harmonize. "Sing with me."

Amaria blinked up at him, then turned to the passing citizens of Amatinea. A few turned slightly to observe the Wildclaw, and before she knew it she had a soft melody on her tongue. An old set of lyrics that seemed to fit the atmosphere he created with his harp.

She sat upright beside him, singing low and soft aside his playing. She felt the brush of his wings as he added a soft, magical chime. Her heart was pounding, what was she thinking? and she simply closed her eyes so she wouldn't see any disappointed faces.

He was a very talented musician, with a uniqueness in the way he blended various sounds together to create something interesting and captivating. She could hear the murmur of the crowd, but focused on what she wanted to sing about instead, letting the words flow easily.

His own voice fell into place beside hers and she snuck a glance at him. His eyes were wistful with a faraway look to them, not focused on the crowd or on her, but something else entirely. He only sang a little bit, to add depth to the bridge and the chorus of the song she'd chosen.

And just as quickly as she lost herself to her passion, it ended with a long pluck and a twinkling chime. Cheers and claps erupted, and an adorable little hatchling rushed up to present Amaria with a lovely yellow flower. She accepted gratefully, smiling warmly. A few tips were even left for the duo, though they assured they didn't require any treasure for their performance. Even though Amaria was still rather spooked at singing in front of so many strangers, her heart soared that she'd done what she loved. The music rang in her mind as she turned to her duet.

"That was lovely," He beamed at her, tucking his harp to his side.

"But.. why me? How did you... know I could sing?" Amaria asked softly, cradling the flower gently.

"Ah, I've heard you hum and sing to yourself when I take a nap in the gardens," He laughed a bit at Amaria's stunned, flustered expression. "I always wondered why you never do when you think people are around. You've got a beautiful voice." The genuine tone he had made her smile, ducking her head shyly.

"Thank you.. ah-"

"Pomelo. Happy to meet you." He bowed his head.

"Pomelo... thank you Pomelo. I am Amaria."

"Amaria. Yes, thank you for indulging me. I just had an.. itch to scratch, yes?" He hummed and sent a wink her way. She noted his fanciful, light apparel and the eloquent way of speaking as he turned and offered her a wave. "I can't wait to play for you again!" And he strolled off into the crowd, a silver Kitsune trotting eagerly after him.

"What an interesting fellow," She said to herself, staring down at the sunny flower in her paws. Despite her stage fright, she hoped they'd be able to duet once more, soon.
