Biography

Ancient Stygianix

Carrionix are dragons that have formed a near perfect symbiosis/mergence with a strange otherworldly organism - simply referred to as 'symbionts' - that when partnered with a dragon affords them a near limitless lifespan, additional strength and magical ability - often enough that many flights who hear of this secret come to the original site in hopes of being blessed with a bond or seek out one of the illusive Sires said to roam farther afield.

But becoming a Carrionix also provides untold and strange mutations - the most common of which being three pairs of eyes upon the dragons head (a multi-gaze partnered carrionix also sports this mutation, causing the head of the dragon to have more eyes than even a regular multi gaze)

These mutations manifest in a variety of ways and can grow and mutate to include magical effects and mutations from the dragon's own element or even elements from their lineage - it has been shown that Carrionix become notably larger and taller than their non-bonded counterparts, of course growing in danger they can present.

It is notable Carrionix symbiont's can bond to a deceased dragon - seemingly something of the properties of magical, nay, eldritch nature allows the symbiont to resurrect the passed on and for this became another reason for the grieving to seek out these strangers from beyond.

In the same case, it has been known for symbionts to bond to cybernetic or wholly robotic dragons in nature as well - giving rise to theories that the symbionts can bond to not just flesh, blood and matter but soul as well no matter the form it takes.

Some have attempted to create bonds similar to the Carrionix with fragments of the shade and a stolen Symbiont, these creations are known as 'STYGIANIX' and vary wildly in results on the dragon who chose to do such a thing (or in most cases, an unwilling test subject), ranging from outright insanity to various struggling mind states to the rarest cases of a stable bond.

Stygianix in their unstable nature can be a hazard to others or even themselves, but surprisingly there are Carrionix clans willing to take on an unwillingly made Stygianix among their groups - often in some way to seek to help their 'estranged cousins' in nature for their mind speech/mind presence is often tinged with the pain of their corrupted bond.

As of now there are no known recordings of any kind of 'stygianix sire' variant - possibly due to the corruptive process being too volatile or perhaps because the additional symbiont young make it impossible to create.
