Uh-oh, looks like this spooky Obelisk wandered a little too far from his home lair (KingVulture, 437722), and now he's off to see the world! If you ever feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, to the “Dragons Off To See The World” thread, here, or to the hub if you don't want another dragon in return. Please refrain from exalting him!

Important note: Please only trade this dragon on traveling dragon threads, as opposed to places such as the Auction House.

"Everyone’s different but not… that… different." —Someone in Lafayette’s Clan

Lafayette enjoys anything spooky, from Halloween to horror movies to ghost stories. This isn’t surprising, considering he’s the son of a Ghoul and a fully living and fully dead Dragon. He loves to travel and find scary and haunted places.

Of course Lafayette enjoys strange, ghoulish things, because due to his parentage, he is a living corpse. He looks alive, but that is only because he kept well moisturized and makes sure that no one looks too closely. Dragons in the Scarred Wasteland accept strange Dragons, but he was undead. Perhaps they would hate him?

In Lafayette’s home, undead were not feared or looked down on, since Dragons were used to dealing with them. However, that is not at all indicative of what the world at large thinks. Luckily, his new Clan didn’t seem to mind him at all, which was good, but there was nothing spooky there.

Best to keep moving.

When Lafayette left the Scarred Wasteland, he journeyed to the Windswept Plateau. He was impressed with how different it was from the Scarred Wasteland. It was… clean. However, that could mean that he would be unable to get away with being a living corpse. Plus, he wasn’t sure if there would be any creepy places in a region where Corgis were worshiped and there was an eternal party going on. He stumbled upon the Aeolian Clan one night, and heard the Aeolians telling ghost stories around the fire. One of them, a Dragon named Rage, was telling about a haunted domain.

“Only when the Blood Moon is fullest and rises over the sky, does this Clan appear, deep in the Tangled Wood. They are all creatures stuck in time, dead but alive, and they come out and take those who are alone! Those Dragons are never seen again… but! The next time the Blood Moon comes, they will reappear, ready to get their revenge! Once you have heard of them, you are a target, and you will be NEXT!” Rage pounced on one of the small hatchlings, and they screeched. Lafayette chuckled. “And you know what’s more?” Rage continue. “The Blood Moon is at its largest tomorrow night!!!”

Just then, Lafayette stepped on a twig, alerting the campers that they were being watched. Rage and his mate, Peril, exploded into action, and nearly beheaded Lafayette in one move. When they saw he was a Dragon, they stopped. (The light of the fire was too dim to see he was not actually alive)

“Who are you? And why are you here?” Peril asked menacingly.

“I’m just a traveler passing through, I swear!” Lafayette told them. “My name is Lafayette, and I’m looking for haunted places.”

Rage lifted an eyebrow, but he didn’t comment.

“Well,” he said. “If you’re a traveler, you shouldn’t be out at night. I can see you’re not from here,” Rage gestured to Lafayette’s bright red eyes. “Come back with us to the main Clan, and stay for a while. We don’t have any spooky places nearby, but if you want to try the place in my story…?” He let the sentence hang, as if he wasn’t joking. Lafayette decided that he would need to talk to this Dragon more later.

“But first,” Peril told him. “You smell like a dead animal. Go take a bath.”

After that close encounter, Lafayette got a makeover. He used some scrolls on himself to change the way he looked, but it also helped the way he smelled. He was able to fit in relatively well with the Aeolians, though many called him strange. He knew that he would leave to find the haunted place Rage had talked about soon. But first, he deserved a well-earned nap.

In addition to his nap, Lafayette found a new Mate named Mila, and he loved her very much. She was a glitch Dragon, so she understood undead and was the only Aeolian whom he told his secret. They had two very much alive Hatchlings, who were cute in every way. Unfortunately, they snuck out one night after Lafayette told a story about his adventures, and the wind blew the tiny Faes away. Lafayette decided to set out again in the hopes of finding them.

Arriving at Aergate, hoping the bustling city around the gate would lead to clues as to his daughters whereabouts, Lafayette was welcomed into a clan lead by a bogsneak known as Calamity. While unfortunately the clan knew nothing about his daughters or where the wind could have possibly blown them away, Lafayette was treated well, like he was any other living dragon. Though he told no one of his undead nature, he had a feeling Calamity knew, as when he was welcomed in, Calamity had told him "Dragons of all sorts are welcome a place in this clan. We won't ask questions on your life story if you do the same." with a knowing wink. After not finding any leads on the location of his daughters, Lafayette headed out on his journey again, hoping to one day be reunited with his family.
