Biography
╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
"They gave me three months. It's been thirteen years." ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ It wasn't hard for her former clan's nursery to realize that Sallow had been born far weaker than her other littermates, seeing how pale and fragile she was when she first emerged from her shell. It took her several extra days to break free from her yolky prison, while her brothers and sisters frolicked and played in the playground they called their "world". She had to be placed under extra care due to the frail nature of her body, but things took a turn for the worse when a terrible cough had begun to develop. She was taken for a health examination, to which the doctor of her former clan could only shake his head and sigh. "An incurable disease; three months is what I foresee, give and take." Needless to say, her parents were more than just disappointed. They shunned her and didn't dare call her their own. How could they, Pearlcatchers of such high status and ranking, have such a sickly child as her? Hence they branded her with a name she grew to despise, to humiliate for something that none of them could've controlled. Sallow. Oh, how she resented that name - so she took it to heart and concocted a plan to seek revenge, or perhaps, vengeance before she would fall to her illness. If she could, then her death would not be in vain, or so she had told herself back then. A month passed - her cough continued to worsen. And what did her parents do? "Leave. This place will be your final resting grounds if you dare show your face here again." She had no choice; she had no say. All she could do was lower her head and accept her fate, allowing destiny to carve her short-lived path... or so her former clan had intended her to. Instead, what they did simply fanned the flames of determination in her heart, her one goal being to live longer than the estimate and show them - no, show the world - that she wasn't going to let some number weigh her down. Foraging, scavenging, and digging had grown to become talents of hers, for she had to source her own herbs and food for her survival. Her coughs were treated with thyme and peppermint, and her fevers with yarrow and ginger. She crafted a tome to document her findings of plants and their uses, and log down days counting towards her estimated 'death'. A day passed. Then two. Then three. Then a week, a month... each day she would go to sleep, not knowing when she would wake up again. But that didn't stop her. "Three months? Ha. It's been thirteen years, Jirachi."
