Dynas was too focused on speaking with the fae queen to be bothered with his new shadow. He wasn't really sure how long the beast had been following him; he'd only realized it was there once he was back in the Starfall Isles. He'd gone around the clan's territory to reach the forest surrounding it, seeking the queen. Concert was not difficult to find when she knew all too well there was a deal to be made, but this one surprised her. The investigator had dealt with her on a few occasions and while he was amiable generally, he'd had a few choice words for her in more than one instance. Always the "knight," she found him curious and she was aware he knew how dangerous she could be, so for him to come to her? "Greetings, White One. To what do I owe this pleasure," she cooed, gazing at his stony face. As he took a breath to respond, her dark eyes shifted briefly to the shifting dust in the sunlight behind him. Perhaps this entity was why he was here, but no. "One of the dragons from the clan has become... infected," he ventured, offering her a brief explanation of the curse that had befallen Woe. "I come to you, in your kingdom, to request asylum on her behalf." The queen's brows lifted. This was more fascinating than she expected. What was he willing to exchange for such a request? Dynas remained quiet, though, waiting for her to speak. Of course this wouldn't be simple. He knew the types of things she'd do to get what she'd want. Khonsu didn't like the eyes of this creature as they swept over her, but the following bartering and discussion? That was interesting. This Pearlcatcher was going through quite a lot for a cursed one. Sure, she could tell from watching them since Dhune that he cared for the Imperial, but now that she was a Barghest? Asking for her protection from a clearly very powerful, very magical creature? The full moon shone high that night as golden eyes traced the path of the party along the sands. Small dirt devils curled along, carefully nudging the begrudging travelers... The memory filtered out as the beast refocused on the present, a low growl rising in her throat. She saw now. The red creature would take advantage of his kindness. She surged forward from the shadows rearing up on her legs and letting loose a roar. Dynas's eyes flared wide as he shuffled to the side, out of her path. She could feel his eyes upon her as she narrowed her gaze upon Concert, who had adjusted her footing but was nowhere near backing down. Her wings had spread, reaching tall. "You shall not," the Barghest hissed at the so-called royal. The little whirls of wind that kicked up around the beast caused the faerie's hair to whip away from her face, revealing the sneer. She didn't appreciate this perceived disrespect. Dynas's eyes squinted, not sure what he was witnessing. He'd been so close to a deal... So close to Woe's safety, and yet... "I lay claim." Concert's expression settled into a look of mild surprise. "Ah," she murmured, glancing toward the Pearlcatcher and shrugging. He was fascinating, but at this time she had no desire to fight over him. "Perhaps another time..." She grinned at the male, receding into her trees and ignoring the threatening growl from Khonsu. The lights of a city among the sand. The footprints leading into it as the sun rose, painting the edges of the sky. Khonsu had spent ages carefully guiding and aggressively protecting travelers. Not once had she ever considered an individual hers but this was different. "I'll protect her," she promised, lowering herself to all fours and crouching low as she gazed at him. She could see he was initially upset and confused; that he was trying to figure out what she intended. His maw hung open in apparent shock. He was calculating. Reconsidering what she'd said to the queen. "... Claim?" Khonsu's lips revealed her teeth in amusement as her tail shifted to touch his.
