The Sorrrow

The sad and beautiful singer Luscinia makes funny noises for the Corgi, but hurts himself and others too much, so he does boring counting jobs instead.

LORE
Luscinia's beautiful voice is incredibly powerful, but behind words, it is very depressing. Luscinia's sadness comes from being treated badly by Bombastine, who was jealous. Even though Luscinia performs wonderfully for the Corgi and the kingdom, he feels troubled and depressed. He also feels guilty and sometimes blames the Corgi and the kingdom for his troubles.

Luscinia understands why Bombastine was mean to him and even agrees with some of Corgi's views. He wishes he could switch places with Bombastine to escape his own sadness. Instead of feeling better, Luscinia gets even sadder. He thinks about hurting others to feel better, but it only makes him feel worse. This sadness eventually makes him feel more compassionate and understand the pain of others.

Luscinia tries to ignore these mixed feelings, but he can't. He continues his job as the kingdom's clerk and accountant, knowing he is on a risky and troubling path.
