Chano began life in an overcrowded lair in the Sunbeam Ruins. There was simply not enough food to go around, and Chano was sold almost as soon as he hatched to a lair in The Tangled Wood. There he was treated poorly as servant, but he had food and a safe place to sleep. It was not long till he became fed up and left the lair, in search of a place he was treated fairly.

He headed west, not sure what lay beyond the boundary of the pillar lands. He found himself unprepared for the harshness of life in The Scarred Wasteland and it was not long till he was infected with various diseases. Chano says he doesn't remember what happened to him between the time he was infected and when he wound up in the frigid Southern Icefield, just that he felt like if he stopped focusing he would die, so he just kept moving.

Dresden found him at death's door and brought him back to his lair, at the time barely more than a gap where a dragon could rest from the harsh winds. When he awoke Dresden offered him a space in the lair for as long as Chano needed it, saying any dragon strong enough to survive such a deadly infection while in the Southern Icefields had earned his place in Dresden's lair.

Chano quickly put his former serving skills to use, and now serves the lair by keeping the lair well organised and running smoothly, well respected by most dragons in the lair. Chano wishes to keep the lair and the dragons together and happy for as long as possible, as he believes he has finally found a place where he is well fed and well treated.
