Gowaine Where I go, will you still follow? Will you leave your shaded hollow? Will you greet the daylight looming, Learn to love without consuming? Gowaine was created as part of a pair by the SOULHERDER as a member of the Soul Flight. She and her mate, Baku, were meant to create and populate a clan within the Soul Realm. They started out as a humble little clan of them and their 3 offspring, Oread, Gwillane, and Genevieve. Unfortunately, turmoil broke out amongst the Soul Realm before they had a chance to continue growing their clan. The civil war took the lives of Baku, Gwillane, and Genevieve. Gowaine was distraught, but she knew she had to do everything in her power to save her remaining child, Oread. And so she fled. Gowaine used her soul ability, Disguise, to disguise her eyes and her daughter’s eyes as Arcane in order to avoid any questioning about their heritage. She and Oread trekked long and far before reaching the Divinity clan. Luckily for Gowaine, Oread was too young to remember much of the journey and Gowaine was able to feed her a false story about their origins. One dragon carrying their secret past was enough. Gowaine and Oread were thankfully welcomed into the clan by its kind leader. Soon Oread took on the name Goread and became a co-leader after an apprenticeship with Gallagher. Gowaine was happy to see her daughter thriving, but the secret she held onto made life hard for her. When other dragons in the clan tried to get close to her she would shell up, unable to trust anyone. As a result, Gowaine became somewhat of a hermit. She shut herself off from the clan only leaving her nest when she needed daily necessities. Eventually a new dragon, Lendros, appeared in the clan. Gowaine found out about him through her daughter who, with her gift of Sight, had seen that there would be a strong bond between Lendros and Gowaine. Gowaine was hesitant to meet with Lendros, but once she did she felt that there was something he had heavy on his heart that she could relate to in some way. It took a while, but they eventually were able to connect over their secrets. While Gowaine’s was much less serious than Lendros’ she felt comfort in being able to share her burden with someone else. Soon they were both able to go out into the village and make friendships with other dragons. All because the weight of the past was shared amongst each other. |
