The Exalted

Within the Southern Icefields, the only dragons to reach the Fortress of Ends are exalted. They are honored among their former clanmates and denizens of the realm. Once a dragon reaches the Fortress, they do not come back. If they don't reach it, they either return to their clans, form a new, or freeze into permafrost structures that sprawl across the furthest reaches. Matriarch Nivalis, in a deep and dire act of desperation, sent messenger after messenger to the Fortress. She begged the Icewarden for any semblance of aid against the menace Hamamelis and her beasts which were decimating the landscape in a power-hungry rage. Within the coldest, darkest, most dangerous night of a blizzard harsh enough to even drown out the fears of rampaging emperors, Reginae appeared at the mouth of the clan's dwelling. A small, furry dragon born of ancient divine energies of ice and brimming with the warm light of hope. Soon after, more of his species appeared, a lost lineage of ancient Gaoler dragons whispering of the Exalted hatchling. A gift from the Icewarden to serve as a beacon of hope for the sole remaining fiefdom within the Southern Icefields. Nivalis's forces began to strengthen with unusual power, finding it within themselves the force to fight back against the brink of extinction and even the odds. All because of one small hatchling. Reginae is a happy, vibrant, curious creature with the strange ability to put those around him at ease, boost their morale, and grant unnaturally powerful energy. Frozen in a permanent state of agelessness further proves of his divine purpose. Nivalis and her followers protect him at all costs, caring for him with honest and true affection, and with the whole-hearted belief that he is the answer to their woes. Some dragons also believe that he is capable of communicating with the Icewarden himself, being some sort of aspect of the Lord of Ice. This however, is merely speculation. Or is it? |
